Historia
In 2012, on his third tour of duty in Afghanistan, an improvised explosive device left Dan Crenshaw's right eye destroyed and his left blinded. Only through the careful hand of his surgeons, and what doctors called a miracle, did Crenshaw's left eye recover partial vision. And yet, he persevered, completing two more deployments. Why? There are certain stories we tell ourselves about the hardships we face—we can become paralyzed by adversity or we can adapt and overcome. We can be fragile or we can find our fortitude. Crenshaw delivers a set of lessons to help you do just that.

Worth the read "listen".
Took me a bit to get into the flow of the book. This is a different literary style than I am use to, a different "voice". Dan Chrensaw expounds on his story that he has already made public. Readers get an inside look at the core make up of Chrensaw. Giving details of what makes him who he is. This book is practical life advice all should emulate.

Historia
For much of the 20th century, Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain's life and career remained mostly obscure outside of dedicated scholars of the Battle of Gettysburg and alumni and students of Bowdoin College. Colonel Chamberlain had led the 20th Maine regiment at Gettysburg, holding the extreme left of the Union line on Little Round Top, and he continued to rise up the ranks toward the end of the war until he was commanding a brigade and present at the surrender ceremony of the Army of Northern Virginia at Appomattox.

I wanted to learn more about Chamberlain and his life. This was mostly and over view of the Civil War and a brief likeness of Chamberlain. He felt like a foot not to the narative.

Moving and amazing
Revisado: 03-19-19
I wasn't always on board with the flow/order of the details but I understand why it is written the way it is. now, who should get this book. Anyone who is current or former military, has friend(s) or family member(s) who is/was military. Anyone who has struggled with substance abuse or depression. Anyone who has stuggled with self worth or meaning. Anyone who is religious or spiritual. All of these categories needs to get this book. Emotional, moving and motivating story. Thank God for people like Gary Sinise!

Think he wrote himself into a corner
Revisado: 09-13-14
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Dresnan is always beat up beyond recognition and still seems to function quite well even though the story explains how he's so exhausted and in great pain beyond endurance. It never indicates he has healing ability but what is describes as being done to him then what he accomplishes does'nt quite make sense.
What was most disappointing about Jim Butcher’s story?
Jim Butcher seems to write his character into a bind that would be impossible to get out. Then without a real explanation of why he escapes.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Narrator does a good job except the heavy breathing that he does for the character gets annoying.
Did Fool Moon inspire you to do anything?
not read very many more books of his. Definately doesn't have as much planning or thought as a brandon sanderson, kevin hearne or brent weeks when putting the world and story together.
Any additional comments?
Average guy thats not good with women but always has sex with some hot gorgeous gal and a love interest with someone else. The sterotype that everyone in the movies is a supermodel. Granted its fantasy but there is very little believable story here.

Greatly done
Revisado: 04-13-14
If you could sum up Steelheart in three words, what would they be?
fast well thought
What other book might you compare Steelheart to and why?
Steelheart is kinda like the tv series hero's, but the story doesn't stall. It keeps building till the end, then at the end you realize that there were plenty of clues you kinda guessed at but weren't sure.
Which scene was your favorite?
When prof saves the two
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I like books that I can do chores and get things done. With this one I didn't want to stop but work got in the way. Definately drove home slower so I could listen longer.
Any additional comments?
This book sounded like hero's which was a great tv series for the first two seasons then I couldn't even watch more than the first couple episodes. I wasn't sure a good story could be told about people with super powers. Thank you Mr. Sanderson for proving me wrong. Now I'm hooked to see what happens next. Sanderson doesn't seem to take easy exits on situations. When someone is cornered he doesn't use a act of God to get them out but uses unique thought and believable writing to continue the story and add even more depth. Can't wait for the next one.

The conclusion of the Mistborn trilogy fulfills all the promise of the first two books. Revelations abound, connections rooted in early chapters of the series click into place, and surprises, as satisfying as they are stunning, blossom like fireworks to dazzle and delight. It all leads up to a finale unmatched for originality and audacity that will leave listeners shaking their heads in wonder, as if awaking from an amazing dream.

a good finish
Revisado: 02-16-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
yes, the book started slow but the pieces all came together at the end.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Not sure.
What does Michael Kramer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His voice is decent to listen to. I'm not sure he really added anything
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
no
Any additional comments?
The narrator's female voice and one other character were kinda off. He definitely gives a wide range of character for everyone in his voice acting. The story starts kinda slow and seems to go no where but it is a lead up to the end where everything comes together. Definitely has a few aha moments that point back to his first few books.

Great book, Horrible narration
Revisado: 02-16-13
Would you listen to The Black Prism again? Why?
No. The narration for the main character (Gavin) was horrible.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Story wise, Gavin, narration wise, maybe Kip
What didn’t you like about Cristofer Jean’s performance?
Mr. Jean use a voice that is a mix between Beavis from Beavis and butthead and a stereotype surfer. I expected a dude or awesome from the way he voice the main character. I should have maybe given 3 stars for his performance on all characters was decent and his voice not that bad to listen to for the rest of the book but stoned out college student voice used for the main character really grated on the whole of the book.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
There were parts that made me smile but I'd not say I actually LOL'd
Any additional comments?
Great book, very much thought into the majic system, characters are varying and not stereotyped. Definately easy to get hooked into. The second book (The Blinding Knife) they got a different narrator that does a lot better job.

Awesome story, poor narrator
Revisado: 02-16-13
Would you try another book from Brent Weeks and/or Simon Vance?
Absolutely
What other book might you compare The Blinding Knife to and why?
Its rather unique
What didn’t you like about Simon Vance’s performance?
The voice performance wasn't bad except for his voice for Gavin, the main character. I never imagined a heroic character that sounded like Beavis crossed with a stereotyped surfer. I kept expecting him to say "Dude". Why he chose that type of voice or performance for the main character I don't know. I almost didn't listen to this book because of it but the story was worth the effort. Simon's characterization of all the other characters was not bad but why did he make the main character sound like a marijuana smoking college brat is beyond me.
Did The Blinding Knife inspire you to do anything?
was it suppose too.
Any additional comments?
Great book, The second book (Blinding Knife) has a much better narrator.
