Historia
No subject is bigger than reality itself, and nothing is more challenging to understand, since what counts as reality is undergoing continual revision and has been for centuries. The quest to pin down what's real and what's illusory is both philosophical and scientific, a metaphysical search for ultimate reality that goes back to the ancient Greeks. For the last 400 years, this search has been increasingly guided by scientists, who create theories and test them in order to define and redefine reality.

Good information for 2/3 of the book
Revisado: 07-17-21
Steven Gimbel is chair of the promotion of Jewish literature on his lecture shows it. His constant elevation of Jewish scientists and the bitter attack of Germany really has no place in these lectures. His personal opinions and attacks have no place in the realm of education. After all he has a government job and he is raking in more cash by reading his course out loud. But Gimbel presents a lot of good information and ideals.

Magical feats of an ordinary human
Revisado: 06-14-21
After readings the Wayward Pines trilogy I wanted to read more Blake Crouch. What a mistake. I'm glad they had few cars in the Pine. All his books now consist of impossible driving and impossible insight. The bad guys are always rich, white fat cats with no regard for human life.

Historia
Five days ago a rash of bizarre murders swept the country. Senseless. Brutal. Seemingly unconnected. A cop walked into a nursing home and unloaded his weapons on elderly and staff alike. A mass of school shootings. Prison riots of unprecedented brutality. Mind-boggling acts of violence in every state. Four Days Ago the murders increased ten-fold. Three days ago the President addressed the nation and begged for calm and peace. Two days ago the killers began to mobilize. Yesterday all the power went out. Tonight....

Drive and climb like the best
Revisado: 06-14-21
The story is a warm over of things in the sky making people act crazy. The family of 4 (to young children) climb the walls of huge western cliffs after no food or water for days, A car is driven through the desert and through the woods with easy day after day. All this to get to the peace of "Canada" a magical place that offers refuge, like there is some kind of force at the boarder.

Would you try another book from Daniel J. Siegel and/or Daniel J. Siegel?
No
If you’ve listened to books by Daniel J. Siegel before, how does this one compare?
No
Which scene was your favorite?
His last patient
Did Mindsight inspire you to do anything?
No
Any additional comments?
This is more of an Oprah book of the month than a report on modren psychology. Dr Siegel actually reports a bit of his therapy and some self talk can grow a brain! He solves the issue of nature\nurture in one sentence. And James would be happy, he also solves fight\flight in one sentence. Plus adds FREEZE to fight\flight. We have fight\flight\freeze. REMARKABLE, call Dr Phil!

Historia
The America we know today is so different in its fundamental views about almost every aspect of life as to be unrecognizable to our countrymen of two centuries ago. On issues as divergent as slavery, women's rights, education, the environment, and many others, we are simply no longer the country we were. What is the source of not only these changes, but of our distinctly American way of experiencing ourselves-confident in our value as individuals, certain of our ability to discover truths, self-reliant in the face of uncertainty and change?

Dry subject matter made interesting
Revisado: 09-27-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Emerson, Thoreau, and the Transcendentalist Movement to be better than the print version?
Yes the audio version has to be better. The Professor relayed a lot of material that would be very difficult to read(my opinion).
Who was your favorite character and why?
Walt Whitman. Portrayed very well in this reading.
Have you listened to any of Professor Ashton Nichols’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
N/A
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Impossible!!
Any additional comments?
Prof Nichols is really dedicated to this subject. It is dry material but he kept it interesting. I almost got a feeling Prof Nichols was rendering an eye witness account.
