Compelling BUT
Revisado: 11-07-24
Very compelling story. As I am a retired computer software developer I found the story fascinating and frustrating. The BUT is that it was a ridiculously long story. I did listen to the whole narration nonetheless.

Historia
A decade ago, kidnappers grabbed two boys from wealthy families and demanded ransom, then went silent. No trace of the boys ever surfaced. For 10 years their families have been left with nothing but painful memories and a quiet desperation for the day that has finally, miraculously arrived: Myron Bolitar and his friend Win believe they have located one of the boys, now a teenager. Where has he been for 10 years, and what does he know about the day, more than half a life ago, when he was taken?

Historia
With ribald humor, wit, and incredible insight, Alan seamlessly moves back and forth in time, integrating stories from his childhood in Scotland and his experiences today as the celebrated actor of film, television, and stage. At times suspenseful, at times deeply moving, but always incredibly brave and honest, Not My Father's Son is a powerful story of embracing the best aspects of the past and triumphantly pushing the darkness aside.

Give that man a hug!
Revisado: 03-06-20
If I am ever fortunate enough to meet Alan Cumming, I will want to give him a great big hug!
He triumphed brilliantly through an upbringing that not all of us would survive as he did.

Historia
Narrator Dan Stevens ( Downton Abbey) presents an uncanny performance of Mary Shelley's timeless gothic novel, an epic battle between man and monster at its greatest literary pitch. In trying to create life, the young student Victor Frankenstein unleashes forces beyond his control, setting into motion a long and tragic chain of events that brings Victor to the very brink of madness. How he tries to destroy his creation, as it destroys everything Victor loves, is a powerful story of love, friendship, scientific hubris, and horror.

It's a classic for a reason.
Revisado: 05-17-19
So glad I listened to this on Audible. Dan Stevens is a WONDERFUL narrator. I could listen to him all day long.
Story is compelling and beautifully written. It is a classic for a reason.
I had seen the movie called Mary Shelley which compelled me want to know the story of Frankenstein as written...
Rather than only the Gene Wilder comedy.
Very much worth your time!

Interesting story.
Revisado: 05-17-19
Story was fun and interesting. Even though the characters are 13 year old boys and girls, the plot is a grown up plot.
But be forewarned that it is told through the voice of 13 year old kids.

Historia
Two childhood friends from Scotland and two illegitimate half-brothers from the deep South suffer and enjoy all manner of bizarre adventures that, it turns out, are somehow interconnected and, even more surprisingly, meaningful. The eclectic cast of characters features Socrates, Carl Jung, and Tony Randall, along with an ex-television evangelist with a penchant for booze, prostitutes, and uncomfortable knitwear who gets mugged in Miami by an almost pure-blooded Watusi warrior - and sets off on a road trip in a stolen motor home.

Short and sweet

Initially had to adjust to the Mother Daughter 'thang' (banter) going back and forth on the phone.
Got used to it when the story started to shift with an interesting twist.
I liked it.
