Truly one of the best rock biographies I have ever read - and I've read several. An amazing "comback" story - Brain is the Rocky Balboa of the Rock and Roll world and his sweet and saucy personality shines through the whole book. -you need to listen to him read it himself because of his own great telling of his story but also he is hilarious. Cheers Brian!

Cheers Chef Marco! I absolutely was enthralled with the stories of your youth, initial career and once you had truly staked it as the premier chef in the UK and a premier world chef. The reading by Timothy Bentinck is fabulous and I feel as if you are truly present. What a career and life. Thanks for this interesting an informative inside look into your life and world. Cheers!

Roger weaves a very listenable tale as he was (apparently) the only somewhat sober member of the Who for much of their run. But seriously, this is a great book read with incredible panache by the man himself who has many great stories to tell. Thanks Roger - for the amazing classic music throughout the years and for this inside look into The Who, your life, career apart from the band and your general observances. Cheers!

I loved that Peter Frampton read the book himself - he has certainly had an interesting journey from very very young professional touring rock band member to his time in Humble Pie, his insanely successful turn after "Frampton Comes Alive," the inevitable crash of his career and the amazing rebuilding (i don't want to give any celebrity spoiler alerts but one famous Brit rocker comes to mind here!). Thanks, Peter - we appreciate the music you have given us! Cheers!

I have read several Dickens books and was already a fan but Pickwick Papers was a joy to hear read by master actor of 1001 voices Rory Kinnear. So fascinating that this was Dickens first book. So many hilarious scenes and characters, so many entertaining and comical yet sardonic and sometimes cynical yet fun depictions of all aspects of a large cross section of the Victorian British Class system .

The book gradually became a mega hit in serialized format and Cheers and Huzzah to Rory Kinnear who is truly a fine master of his craft with a deep understanding of the many varied characters of this book.

I raise a glass of hot pineapple rum to Mssrs Dickens and Kinnear! Cheers!

I read this book in high school and now listened to it in my fifties. A fascinating and entertaining masterpiece read with flair and empathy for the characters.

I absolutely loved this absurdist look at the journey of a drama teacher at Swineforth Hospital, a British secondary school. As Tristram Randolph attempts to transition his career to the next level by accepting an offer to be headmaster of a new school in Diskebapisbad, the capital city of what had been part of the soviet empire and was now a dictatorship. Hilarity ensues as he recruites his staff, learns about the culture of this crazy country, interacts with the two daughters of the dictator and ends up with way more of an adventure than he signed up for. The extremely colorful characters and ridiculous situations Auriel Roe dreamt up are carried off with excellence by narrator Adrian J. Landers whose lively delivery and seemingly endless stable of all kinds of accents and character voices made this audio book spring to life. I would describe this as a 'lighthearted dark comedy ' because even though the book takes serious jabs at the failings of people and the inner workings of world politics (Tristram and his staff all represent one of the seven deadly sins with Tristram being a fairly unsympathetic protagonist) it nonetheless comes off wonderfully! With elements that reminded me of great British comedy like Monty Python, the strangely humorous but disconcerting tales of Roald Dahl and books like The Master and Margarite. I highly recommend it!

I've read this book several times and truly adore it. The actor who reads it is wonderful and truly captures the feel of Hemmingways style and characters.
