Great Series, Superb Performance
Revisado: 07-31-18
I loved this entire series. The ending was really satisfying as well. Bronson Pinchot did an amazing job performing it and I wish he would narrate more books.

Historia
Master Sergeant Changiz Lahidji served on Special Forces A teams longer than anyone in history, completing over a hundred combat missions in Afghanistan. Changiz is a Special Forces legend. He also happens to be the first Muslim Green Beret. Changiz served this country starting with Operation Eagle Claw in 1980, when he entered Tehran on a one-man mission to spy on Iranian soldiers guarding the US embassy where 52 US diplomats were being held hostage.

A REAL American idol
Revisado: 03-21-18
I wish I was a fraction of the man this hero is. There should be a holiday to commemorate him, and the selfless service he voluntarily gave for his adopted country. Everyone in the US should know his name and what he has done for the country. If you're looking for a great story that is non-fictional, look no further than to this book. The man has visited and worked in over 50 countries, mostly with his life on the line. I read a review that said he views women as objects but I'm not sure that's true. You be the judge while you hear about a living legend and how he has served his adopted country, the US.

Historia
Deep within the Pentagon, a covert multibillion arms-for-influence program was created. The objective was to protect the United States and its allies from terrorist acts by secretly enabling a handpicked man to emerge as the most powerful leader in the Middle East. But the charismatic Tristan Nazir double-crosses America, twisting the program for his own violent ends to create ISIS. Now America is at great risk.

Coes Continues to Dominate The Thriller Game..
Revisado: 07-01-16
I've always liked this particular genre. With the unfortunate passing of Vince Flynn, I think Ben Coes is the new king of the political thriller. Brad Thor is another name with his Scot Harvath series and even though someone has taken over the Mitch Rapp series, neither can hold a reader in suspense at any given moment in a story like Ben Coes. Every new book somehow manages to bring fresh, new ideas and angles as well as completely unexpected ways of bringing the reader to the edge of their seat and keeping them there for the duration of the story. I realize that's only naming two other big names in the genre, but those are two extremely popular and longstanding thriller series (one of which a movie is being made in the case of Rapp and I wouldn't be surprised to see the same outcome with the Harvath series by Thor). And Peter Hermann is just another example of the genius of Ben Coes. I've never heard him narrate anything else, but from the very first story, where the reader meets this quiet, mysterious man who is obviously dangerous, the voice of Peter Hermann as well as the slower, more methodical application of it, has managed to embody character of Dewey Andreas perfectly. I just wish I didn't have to wait another year to read another gripping tale penned by Ben Coes. All hail the new king of the thriller, Ben Coes.

SO TIDY! ;-P
Revisado: 01-16-16
Would you consider the audio edition of Crystal Keepers to be better than the print version?
I'm sure someone beat me to the punch already (though I didn't check) but couldn't help myself....especially for such a TIDY book! ;-P
Alright...I'm done....I think... :-)
Read the book and you will understand the ridiculous reference I'm sort of in love with right now. As for the actual content of the book and it's author, I cannot begin to adequately stress to people how much respect I personally believe Brandon Mull deserves as a fantasy writer in this day and age. I am far beyond my youthful years, and as such, I was a little hesitant when I first rolled the dice on Fablehaven. By the end of book 1, I couldn't start book 2 fast enough. I love this author's imagination and I relish any opportunity I am given as a reader of his books,
When I finally started Five Kingdoms (I had been meaning to do it for a while now), there was absolutely no surprise whatsoever when upon finishing book 1, I immediately began book 2. This series has not let me down in terms of rich, intricately woven fictional world's for me to become fully immersed and thoroughly emotionally invested in. In Five Kingdoms, Mull has decided to paint 5 vibrant interconnected world's. Each world in Five Kingdoms has it's own strengths and weaknesses, currency, social structure and my favorite, it's own unique magical system (which IS connected to each world's magical system in a broad sense ) and the subsequent strengths and weaknesses that are created for the citizens as a result. Mull brings it all together (thus far) in a fantastic enough of a manner so that the reader is easily able to lose themselves in the fabric of the story, and yet the story is told in a real enough of a perspective for the reader to easily become invested in how all of the events are affecting all of the characters of the story. Are there some things the author did that could've been done better? Of course. I honestly don't think they're significant enough to bring to light as they did not take away from the the first three books in any sort of way in which I felt as if the story ran into a bump or wall, temporarily (or more) pulling me out of the wonderful world that the author has so vividly crafted. Something like that would compel me to cast a bit of a shadow on this otherwise extremely bright and positive review.
The book is targeted toward a younger audience and, as such, it won't be everyone's cup of tea. However, any parent reading this review should note that this review as well as many others have mentioned that this story (along with the others that have come before it in the series) manages to be fun for a child and complex (not sure if that's the right word) enough for a parent to maintain a vested interest as well. I hope any parent reading this will give the gift of this author to their child, whether via this story/series, or another of Mull's fantastic tales.
