Historia
Evans interweaves a broad narrative of the war’s progress with viscerally affecting personal testimony from a wide range of people - from generals to front-line soldiers, from Hitler Youth activists to middle-class housewives. The Third Reich at War lays bare the dynamics of a nation more deeply immersed in war than any society before or since. Fresh insights into the conflict’s great events are here, from the invasion of Poland to the Battle of Stalingrad to Hitler’s suicide in the bunker.

Revisado: 03-08-22
I really liked the book. The author really wanted you to understand how badly the Jews were treated. I think it was unnecessary to repeat it over, and over, and over again.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Better than The Martian
Revisado: 05-11-21
I loved listening to The Martian. I didn't think Andy Weir could write anything better. I was wrong. This book is now my all time favorite. The book is matched with the perfect performer. Ray Porter does a fantastic job. If you liked The Martian you'll love Project Hail Mary.

The love hate relationship continues
Revisado: 03-13-16
Unlike some books I've read the writing doesn't get any better. The performance continues at the same level as well. The only thing that saves this book is the story. The repetitive sentences are very irritating as always. Too bad the book couldn't be rewritten and performed by someone else.

it's a very good story concept.
Revisado: 03-09-16
I have listened to the other books in this series. the writing is definitely not for the adults. the performance is on a three stars level. if you have a low tolerance for repetitive writing, above-average performance then I would suggest not listening to this book, or this series. the story concept is good so it's become a love-hate relationship for me.

Any additional comments?
I like the story concept. This is my first book by this author and narrator. I read a few reviews and I have to agree that the writing is on a novice level. However, if you can get by a few things that the characters seem to say over and over it's worth listening too. I did purchase two more books and the writing does get better.

Where's the meat.
Revisado: 12-15-15
Is there anything you would change about this book?
I would spend a little more work on the time line. Sometimes a few hours would pass, and the next thing you know a month, six months, or five years have passed. I spent too much time trying to figure out how much time had passed.
Would you ever listen to anything by Raymond L. Weil again?
Maybe
Have you listened to any of Nick J. Russo’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but I would listen to another performance before I make a final decision on future performances.
Did Star One inspire you to do anything?
Yes, choose my stories wisely.
Any additional comments?
Overall I thought it was a ok story. I liked the main idea. But,It was lacking a lot of character development. The main evil character was talked about, however, you never really know who he is. I wanted to hear from that character. I wanted know he was more than a name. He did something terrible in the story, but you never what he did that was the final straw.. It's a secret between the two other characters in the story.

The first of the deep space carriers, no other warship in the fleet holds as many honors or has recorded as many kills. No other warship in the fleet is as old. Accepting the inevitable, the Federation Space Navy has decided to refit her and send her on a tour of the frontier, showing the flag to their allies and enemies as a reminder of her glory - and then decommission her for good.

A good start for a series, but needs improvement
Revisado: 10-22-15
Would you recommend Space Carrier Avalon to your friends? Why or why not?
This is the first time I've listened to a book by Glynn Stewart. I liked the action, the pace, and a few surprises. Having the Date, Time, and location included with every scene change become very tiresome. I was in the military and I understand the purpose. But it took away the enjoyment of the story. The other issue are the sexual encounters. The detail was unnecessary. The story at times sounded a little like soap opera.
Any additional comments?
Overall a good story, I might listen to another Glynn Stewart book depending on the reviews.
