I was wary at first. I wasn't sure about the narration and the story seemed so-so but then it got under my skin... A clever piece that has a number of interesting twists and which places satire on satire.

The final chapter...
Revisado: 08-01-24
After following Felix's adventures from boy to adolescent to old man, it was sad to know this was the final instalment of the series but it still provided a mix of adventure, tears and as always, a powerful message. A beautiful way to say goodbye. Thanks Morris Gleizman.

The series continues... Once again, Felix charms the reader with his quirky observations of the world and humble heroism. Perhaps not as gripping as some of the novels but definitely as endearing.

Changing my initial review - game changer!
Revisado: 07-23-24
This book has been a game changer. When I first reviewed this, I was a bit "meh" because I'd listened to a few sober curious and QuitLit books beforehand and felt this was so so overall.
However, since listening to it I have never once felt like having a drink. I don't feel like I am missing out, I simply know I am no longer a drinker. Didn't think it had done much at the time, other than go over the research etc. I had already heard.
Not sure how it works...but it did for me! There's some kind of magic within!

Historia
Carrying little more than a change of clothes and a pair of binoculars, two young Americans, Mark and Delia Owens, caught a plane to Africa, bought a thirdhand Land Rover, and drove deep into the Kalahari Desert. There they lived for seven years, in an unexplored area with no roads, no people, and no source of water for thousands of square miles. In this vast wilderness the Owenses began their zoology research, working along animals that had never before been exposed to humans.

Honest and powerful
Revisado: 04-28-24
This has acted like hypnotherapy for me - from the moment I stated listening, I've not wanted to drink wine. Made me consider my own habits and look to alternatives when I would otherwise maybe use alcohol to quieten my brain or my emotions. Love how it really turns society's treatment of alcohol and addiction on its head. A thought-provoking read offering insight into addiction, no matter who you are and whether you have a relationship with alcohol, or not.
