Historia
In The Crash of Flight 3804, Investigative Journalist Charlotte Dennett digs into her father’s counterintelligence work, which pitted him against America’s wartime allies - the British, the French, and the Russians - in a covert battle for geopolitical and economic influence in the Middle East. Through vivid storytelling, extensive research, and deep analysis of region-defining maps, she reveals how feverish competition among intelligence networks, military, and Big Oil interests have fueled indiscriminate attacks and targeted killings that continue to this day.

A People's History In Our Time
Revisado: 12-24-21
Among the many books about US role in Middle East wars that have spanned my lifetime, this book by Dennett shines with clarity, simplicity, and love for humanity. It is straightforward truth-telling wrapped in compassion. Unlike histories of this period that have left me feeling sad and hopeless, Dennett 's book carries an inspiring message that peace is possible and the pursuit of truth is the path to freedom.

Historia
Chief Inspector Armand Gamache of the Surêté du Québec and his team of investigators are called in to the scene of a suspicious death in a rural village south of Montreal. Jane Neal, a local fixture in the tiny hamlet of Three Pines, just north of the U.S. border, has been found dead in the woods. The locals are certain it’s a tragic hunting accident and nothing more, but Gamache smells something foul in these remote woods, and is soon certain that Jane Neal died at the hands of someone much more sinister than a careless bowhunter.

A Lovely Diversion
Revisado: 09-13-20
From beginning to end, the 'painting' (that is, writing) of this tale is exactly like the characters in the story, a tapestry of life in this normal little provincial town. Enjoy!

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

a sad and beautiful tale
Revisado: 03-16-19
I felt sadness in the beginning, almost overwhelming. Almost quit reading. I am glad I continued, because the characters became lovably dear to me and they will remain so. The swamp became so real, I feel like I've been there, slept in the shack, ate the grits. This is a sad but beautiful story.

Historia
When reporter Ellen Gleeson gets a "Have You Seen This Child?" flyer in the mail, she almost throws it away. But something about it makes her look again, and her heart stops—the child in the photo is identical to her adopted son, Will. Her every instinct tells her to deny the similarity between the boys, because she knows her adoption was lawful. But she's a journalist and won't be able to stop thinking about the photo until she figures out the truth. And she can't shake the question: if Will rightfully belongs to someone else, should she keep him or give him up?

Silly story.
Revisado: 04-24-18
Heroine supposed to be strong, independent career woman, raising adopted boy. Not. Plot is boring, scenes with child are cloying, and female character is unappealing. The ending was a pleasant surprise. Clever twist.

Since Donald Trump was sworn in as the 45th President of the United States, the country—and the world—has witnessed a stormy, outrageous, and absolutely mesmerizing presidential term that reflects the volatility and fierceness of the man elected Commander-in-Chief.

it"s a fascinating read. I wish Wolff was doing commentary on the daily cable networks because his knowledge and insights into the workings of the Trump White House make sense of what is otherwise baffling. I hope he's writing a sequel.
