This book hits trite more than once. Perhaps if this book and the first or second book were a single book, there would be a bit more development.

Rachel is unbearable

I only made it half way through this story. I found Rachel's character unbearable. I wanted to make it through the whole story to see if she evolves, but it was like nails on chalk board. I could see how some might like her as a "strong" character, but for me it just came across as petulant behavior. I got to the point I had to quit listening.
