What about David?
Revisado: 09-12-24
Enjoyed this book very much, loved the twist and turns. A bit saddened that we did not hear Wild tell Hester what really happened that day with David.

Historia
Imogen, captain of the Irish charter boat, Mystic Pirate, has little time for friends and doesn’t trust her lovers. Perhaps the real issue is that she can’t trust herself, as she hasn’t yet found a good explanation for why otherworldly images dance before her eyes. Half-convinced that she is one step away from losing her mind, just like her mother, Imogen prefers to spend her life at sea with the only family she knows—her crew members.

Hugo and Nebula award winning?
Revisado: 04-06-22
People new to the genre need to read or listen to serious, ground breaking SF. This is neither. This is lame, barely inventive , dull and confusing. Not worthy of what I remember from an award winning books. Try Hyperion, Spin or Windup Girl and then rate this. This is a chapter in Hyperion and hardly, ground breaking. It should have stayed a Novella. There's a reason this was $8.

Masterful!
Revisado: 02-01-22
Dan Simmons is a genius and an amazing writer. I was simply enthralled with beach tale. Yeah, no I didn't care for the ending but it was quite frankly anti-climatic. Possibly the point!

The Siren Island series is a fantastic escape and has provided me with much needed stress relief. The narrator is easy to listen to and relaxing. The story is enchanting and draws you in. I recommend this book, this series and honestly everything Tricia O’Malley writes. Happy listening.

Fun!
Revisado: 06-19-20
Definitely a chic flick (what do you call it for a book?). Knowing both Tess and Aiden it was fun to hear their story in detail other than the snippets of conversations we've had with them over the years. Like I said, it's a chic flick so some of the chick moments, emotions, insecurities, etc are a little cringe-worrhy at least to me. What's most important though is Trish did a fantastic job capturjng Aiden very true to his sensibilities. I could picture him saying the words in this story. He is a very amazing man, genuine and intelligent which makes them a perfect match for one another, as Trish is equally amazing. Congrats on a great story and hope to visit again soon!
One last word about the narrator. I thought she was very good. With over 300 audiobooks in my library I place her well within in my top.10.

Historia
When Freddie Mercury died in 1991, aged just 45, the world was rocked by the vibrant and flamboyant star's tragic secret that he had been battling AIDS. That Mercury had even been diagnosed came as a shock to his millions of fans, with his announcement coming less than 24 hours before his death. In Somebody to Love, biographers Mark Langthorne and Matt Richards skilfully weave Freddie Mercury's incredible pursuit of musical greatness with Queen, his upbringing and his endless search for love with the story of a terrible disease.

Worthwhile, a wee bit heavy on AIDS history
Revisado: 11-28-18
The timeline presented in this book was appreciated in light of the recent movie which oddly compressed things that didn't need compressed. The telling was difficult to follow as the authors quoted many folks and it was perplexing as there was no change of voice or tone for different speakers. I would recommend a female voice for female quotes, for example. While the book was rich with insight into Freddie's crazy little life, it was too detailed on the history and diaspora of AIDS, imo which caused it to drag on.

Sophmoric but VERY fun!
Revisado: 08-08-16
This book must have pretty much written itself. Who hasnt play enough video games so as to easily get immersed in the story arc? Once Cline had the plot he could easily pick and choose the 80s/SF references at random to backfill. I am not minimizing what the author has done here either. The execution of this story had to be done right as i am sure many have tried similar plots. The VR is quite cool and what i believe helped this story stand out. Its no wonder Oculus Rift has made this required reading. There were some juvenile, cring worthy moments for at 55 year old to hear but it was easy to take it with a grain of salt. Wil Wheaton is an amazing narrator to, just saying.
