This book contains excellent advice for anyone looking to grow in Christ and fight off the distracting, discouraging, and distancing schemes of the enemy. Ms Shirer breaks down 10 key ways that satan manipulates our minds and the things that matter to us in order to drive a wedge between us and Jesus or to otherwise distract us from pursuing Jesus fully. In learning how the enemy operates, we are able to avoid the traps that slow us down. Shirer then elaborates on each attack strategy to teach us how we can use fervent and targeted prayer to combat the attacks and continue in our mission.
This book reads easily and is full of practical guidance. I highly recommend.

Interesting overview of info but poor recording

I found the information interesting, and I enjoyed the tips and tricks. There is potential to go more in depth with the step-by-step guidance, which would prove to be much more helpful.

The quality of the recording was poor, like the microphone was in the same room as the narrator but not near the narrator's mouth.

Would you try another book from Suzanne Collins and/or Carolyn McCormick?

Yes. Suzanne does great work. Carolyn is clear and expressive, but I don't think she was a good fit for this particular series.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Carolyn McCormick?

Someone with a strong, decisive voice. Carolyn is whiney and overly dramatic, which does not capture the personality of main character Katniss AT ALL. Every thought Katniss expressed was translated as though she is about to sprawl out on a chaise and demand that someone fan her. I believe the character of Katniss was instead angry and frustrated, hardened and strong, which Carolyn's silver spoon dialect could not capture.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

This book - and series - made me feel inspired. Sometimes we underestimate ourselves as Katniss had done. She made choices purely based on survival, but couldn't understand how others would be inspired by them. Even when she succeeded, she was humbled by the realities of the pain she experienced or caused in the process.she was neither arrogant nor victimized - she did not cower away from the tough decisions that she was forced to make.
