Historia
When Minalan the Spellmonger was exiled from his beloved mageland of Sevendor by Prince Tavard, his friend Duke Anguin made him Count Palatine of the Magelaw, a vast realm in the Alshari Wilderlands that Minalan is all too familiar with. After the goblin invasion, the province is devastated, ruined, and peopled almost only by freed slaves. But Minalan has brought his recovering wife and family into exile with him, and he views their impoverished fief as an opportunity to build a new City of Magi in the wilderness.

No plot or character development
Revisado: 12-02-20
Terry Mancour has spent the first 10 chapters of the book doing a thesis on medieval magical economics. Or maybe he was just giving us his notes of the world his story was going to take place in. Oh wait, that was the previous 10 books. There has been practically no plot or character advancement in this book. John Lee is doing his best, but by chapter 5 the poor guy sounded like he was reading a recipe book. There were several plot points in this story that I was really interested in, just not enough to sit through the books anymore. I will just read a summary when the books come out.

"Investing means different things to different people. In fact, there are different investments for the rich, poor, and middle class. Rich Dad’s Guide to Investing is a long-term guide for anyone who wants to become a rich investor and invest in what the rich invest in. As the title states, it is a "guide" and offers no guarantees... only guidance.” (Robert Kiyosaki)

A terrible book
Revisado: 09-26-16
What disappointed you about Rich Dad's Guide to Investing?
As I was listening I got the distinct impression that something was off. There is a narrative in which the author tries to convince you of his backstory. It really sounded like a pitch you might get at an Amway meeting. Turns out that's exactly what it is.
What was most disappointing about Robert T. Kiyosaki’s story?
That his backstory is a lie.
What about Tim Wheeler’s performance did you like?
The performance was fine.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Rich Dad's Guide to Investing?
Dont care to comment.
Any additional comments?
I should know better than to buy self help finance books without researching the author first.

Few books have captivated the imagination and won the devotion and praise of readers and critics everywhere as has George R. R. Martin’s monumental epic cycle of high fantasy that began with A Game of Thrones. Now, in A Feast for Crows, Martin delivers the long-awaited fourth book of his landmark series, as a kingdom torn asunder finds itself at last on the brink of peace . . . only to be launched on an even more terrifying course of destruction.

Poor Performance
Revisado: 02-10-14
If you could sum up A Feast for Crows in three words, what would they be?
An epic masterpiece.
Would you be willing to try another one of Roy Dotrice’s performances?
I have no choice as I intend on finishing the series.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes
Any additional comments?
As other people have mentioned Dotrice apparently did not go back and review his earlier work so that he could use the same pronunciations and character voices. It would almost be ok except that many of the voices now sound like the Lucky Charms Leprechaun. It is still an excellent book however and its worth dealing with the bad performance.

Historia
Richard K. Morgan has received widespread praise for his astounding 25th-century novels featuring Takeshi Kovacs, and has established a growing legion of fans. Mixing classic noir sensibilities with a searing futuristic vision of an age when death is nearly meaningless, Morgan returns to his saga of betrayal, mystery, and revenge, as Takeshi Kovacs, in one fatal moment, joins forces with a mysterious woman who may have the power to shatter Harlan's World forever.

Change in narration
Revisado: 05-03-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, the story and characters are really good.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Takashe because he is the focus.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Unfortunately this a different narrator from the previous two books in the trilogy. The change is jarring and destroys any feeling of continuity. Even worse is the addition of cheesy reverb effects to certain passages that take place in Takashe's mind. However the most unforgivable part is that Takashe's last name is pronounced Kova(ch) not Kova(cs). The authors spends time explaining this in detail in the first chapter of the first book. The new narrator pronounces it Kova(cs) and it's really annoying.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The new narrator made me cry.

Historia
Seven billion years from now, long after the Sun has died and human life itself has become extinct, alien beings reincarnate humanity from our fossilized DNA drifting as debris in the void of deep space. We are reborn to serve as bait in a battle to the death between the Rimstalker, humankind's reanimator, and the zotl, horrific creatures who feed vampire-like on the suffering of intelligent lifeforms.

A Truly Visionary Tale
Revisado: 03-21-13
What three words best describe David Gilmore’s performance?
Bad dinner theater. The narration of this book very nearly ruined this book for me.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes
Any additional comments?
I read this book a few years ago and instantly fell in love with the story. The way in which Attanasio manages to tell a tale that spans 7000 years through the experience of the main characters is really unique. The worlds that he creates or rather that he has the Rimstalker create are an astounding concept that really stick with me and I am sure that I will return several more times.

Historia
Twenty years ago, it was as if someone turned on a light. The future blazed into existence with each deliberate word that William Gibson laid down. The winner of Hugo, Nebula, and Philip K. Dick Awards, Neuromancer didn't just explode onto the science fiction scene - it permeated into the collective consciousness, culture, science, and technology.Today, there is only one science fiction masterpiece to thank for the term "cyberpunk," for easing the way into the information age and Internet society.

An Amazing Book
Revisado: 03-21-13
What did you love best about Neuromancer?
The fact that the characters are the most important thing in the story and don't get overshadowed by the technology which is what happens far too often in Science Fiction.
What does Robertson Dean bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
In my opinion a narrator should be practically transparent, I want the story to spark my imagination. Robertson manages this quite well.
Any additional comments?
I just finished my first run through Neuromancer by William Gibson. I say first as I cant imagine not experiencing it again. It is an excellent book in so many ways but suffice it say that Gibson was practically prescient.
