Revisado: 12-10-23
If you are looking for your next epic fantasy, this is it. Super fun read. Think Hunger Games, ACOTAR and Fourth Wing, but with vampires and a little more grown up. There is a ton of action and some romance. Bonus: The narrator,Amanda Leigh Cobb, is fabulous.

A delightful sequel
Revisado: 02-22-23
This was an enjoyable book. Rarely is the sequel as good as the first book, but this book was really good. It was sweet with a satisfying ending to a complicated love story. The author did a great job evoking feelings of hurt, loss, love, and hope. Once again she tackled domestic violence, but this time from the point of what happens after you leave the situation. One thing that made this book a little better is that author acknowledged that Lily had many more advantages and a strong support network to help her through the events in the first book. She recognizes that not everyone has the resources she had. Despite this, the reader feels the sadness and pain Lilly goes through. This book also alternates chapters between Atlas and Lily, but gives more insight into Atlas's perspective. It was very well done. And there is plenty of romance and cheesiness to make you smile and feel good. "P.S. It is my wish for you to be my fish."

Historia
For the six lucky scientists selected by the Destination Mars! corporation, a one-way ticket to Mars - in exchange for a lifetime of research - was an absolute no-brainer. The incredible opportunity was clearly worth even the most absurdly tedious screening process. Perhaps worth following the strange protocols in a nonsensical handbook written by an eccentric billionaire. Possibly even worth their constant surveillance, the video of which is carefully edited into a ratings-bonanza back on Earth. But it turns out that after a while, even scientists can get bored of science.

A queen now in exile as a traitor, Lara has watched Ithicana be conquered by her own father, helpless to do anything to stop the destruction. And it is bait she fully intends to take. Risking her life to the Tempest Seas, Lara returns to Ithicana with a plan not only to free its king, but for liberating the Bridge Kingdom from her father’s clutches using his own weapons: the sisters whose lives she spared.

Charming and Delightful.
Revisado: 04-09-22
Charming and delightful, this book will surely work it's way into your heart. At first, the women seem to be "Karens," but it is necessary to remember the book starts in the sixties when women were told exactly what their roles in society were. The book touches on a lot of relevant, tough topics in a relatable way. You feel as if you could pull up a chair and join in the book clubs. The author cleverly allows the worlds of the old book club and the new book club to intertwine. The story is a sweet reminder that women need other women and that true friendships can survive the hardest of life's challenges. Women can indeed encourage one another and think/live outside of traditional roles. The characters are not perfect, like real-life people. Some of the flaws are exaggerated, like in the original Sex in the City, but other character flaws make them more relatable. Despite a few chessey moments, overall, the story was heartwarming and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Interesting and Imaginative!
Revisado: 04-05-22
This book is very interesting and imaginative. It was a daring take on AC's real-life disappearance. I'm not sure I believe this is the true account, but it was a fascinating theory. There are a few moments that were just too outlandish to believe. Real people simply would not have behaved that way. However, extremely rich people can be eccentric, so who really knows what happened? It was written like a mystery, where many things do not become clear until the end. Because of her style, some parts appeared too long or to not quite fit into the story, but in the end, everything was neatly resolved. If you are looking for something, thought-provoking, different and interesting, I recommend this book.

Very good. Lots of twists and misdirection. You may even be tempted to read it again to see what you missed the first time around. The characters are dynamic and have interesting back stories. The writing style is very clever. A few fun lines... 1) "There are forests less shady than my wife." 2) "A fight is like storm, sometimes you can see it before it starts." 3) "words don't come with gift receipts, you can't take them back" 4) "He doesn't cheat with men or women, he cheats with their words. He is always reading." 5)"Things have been wrong with the Wrights for a long time"

Makes you think
Revisado: 03-22-22
I have so many thoughts!!! I liked her writing style and some of scenes were very vivid, but I also felt some important character and plot details were left out. The main reason for the 4 rating is that the author left too many loose ends and unresolved issues. Overall, I did enjoy it because was very thought provoking and challenged some my own bias' and cultural assumptions. The narrators were excellent for the story.
