This final book ties up all the loose ends introduced in the unfolding saga throughout the first two books. It is a must read. This series just made comfort read status for me. I will be listening to these books multiple times. Love love love!!! ❤️😍

Emotionally Satisfying

I love this world and the characters I had already come to know from the first book in the series. The narrator is incredible. It was so satisfying to experience this love growing between two people who were so loved starved and distrustful, but deserving of all the best.

Should Be Required Reading

I am so pleased that I stumbled on this book. It clearly documents all the efforts that were made to annihilate Black progress. Black progress was driven by a thirst for education that began long before the end of enslavement. Stifling college prep education was seen as the #1 tool to control our circumstances and relegate us to a permanent under class in the American caste system. This volume is so easy to follow and well narrated that I have already listened to it twice. I will continue to listen to it because I keep picking up on different things to research further with each listen. If we can't have an AP African American History course without illegal drama trying to derail it, at least we have self study using books like this one. Bravo!! 10,000 stars.

True Facts

I enjoyed listening to this book and learning the true facts that were left out of the Netflix series. If you are at all interested in facts over dramatic license, this is a must read! This time period does not get enough truthful evaluation so this book is also an invaluable work from a historical perspective. Read it!

It Works

After a couple of evenings of listening, I noticed my cravings changing to healthy things. I had a craving for broccoli!! Now, I do like broccoli, but I never craved it instead of cookies before. I think this rewires your brain. I am choosing more water, fruits and veggies and staying away from processed food. I am also leaving food on my plate instead of cleaning it.

Mind-blowing View into the Soul of An Icon

This was a very easy listen. I completed it in 2 days. I am sure I will listen again. The human being is even more amazing than the famous persona.

I am listening again after Chris Rock's verbal assault on Jada Pinkett Smith at the Oscars. Hearing this inspiring story is helping me cope with the fact that so far the true decades long history of Chris's antagonism is not common knowledge yet.
