Historia
In Shaker Heights, a placid, progressive suburb of Cleveland, everything is planned - from the layout of the winding roads to the colors of the houses to the successful lives its residents will go on to lead. And no one embodies this spirit more than Elena Richardson, whose guiding principle is playing by the rules. Enter Mia Warren - an enigmatic artist and single mother - who arrives in this idyllic bubble with her teenage daughter, Pearl, and rents a house from the Richardsons.

Such detailed realism
Revisado: 09-22-20
It seems like a typical family teenaged drama at first.
But then it’s brilliant, it’s subtle, it’s detailed, it’s understanding. It expresses stories and people and good intentions and misunderstandings and differences in a way that highlights their edges making them clear where they were previously invisible.

Historia
The Mongol queens of the thirteenth century ruled the greatest empire the world has ever known. Yet sometime near the end of the century, censors cut a section from The Secret History of the Mongols, leaving a single tantalizing quote from Genghis Khan: “Let us reward our female offspring.”

Historia
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

Beautiful writing
Revisado: 02-21-20
This is a story that gets more and more unbelievable as it goes. The writing and language are luxurious and deep, the descriptions vivid and rich. I couldn’t stop listening.

Very Well written memoir to a time
Revisado: 04-05-15
The story is a but sad really. But the book is well written and compelling. Sometimes the narrator's voice for other characters is not the best but the book and the story are wonderful if you want to know more about this time in Paris, these writers and artists.
