They both have good voices. Well researched and I do appreciate the detail. Just a little too much off topic chit chat.

Historia
When Hanlon is suspended from the force for assaulting a suspect, she escapes to the remote Scottish island of Jura, home to the mysterious Corryvreckan whirlpool. But wherever Hanlon goes, violence is sure to follow. As soon as she checks into The Mackinnon Arms, Hanlon senses something isn't quite right about the staff at her home for the week. Sure enough, within days of arriving, the body of a member of staff is found floating in the sea. While police believe she was claimed by the local whirlpool, Hanlon isn't so sure.

Just not very good
Revisado: 01-28-23
The story is far fetched. The dialog leaves a lot to be desired. The characters are not believable. Just not very good.

Entertaining
Revisado: 08-21-22
Entertaining, but not great. The hype made me expect better. The ending left a lot to be desired. I guess it's worth a credit. Ashley flowers is a awesome podcaster and she wisely used her platform to advertise this book. she has loyal fans that will rate this book well, regardless.

Historia
Edinburgh, Scotland. March 1832. Kiera and Gage have been eagerly awaiting their bundle of joy but trouble has been brewing in the form of the roguish criminal Bonnie Brock Kincaid. A new book and subsequent play features some of Kincaid's daringly heinous exploits, although he swears he had nothing to do with it or the characters which are obvious representations of Kiera and Gage. A rash of crimes break out across the city, seemingly inspired by the play and book. Then the publisher is found brutally murdered.

it's starting to get boring.
Revisado: 04-13-21
I used to enjoy this series. it was a fun read. But now I find myself rolling my eyes and sighing. This story was not very exciting. Distracting deep dive into incomprehensible relationship issues. Inconsistent behaviour of characters.

Boring
Revisado: 10-05-20
I wanted light entertainment while doing housework. So I wasn't expecting a epic tale. However, it just became boring and not much of a distraction. The dialogue was tedious with overuse of "dastards" and "gastly". The strangely halting narration was no help. The story line was not interesting. The first few books of this series were OK. Not this one.

Historia
William Arrowood, Victorian London’s less salubrious private detective, is paid a visit by Captain Moon, the owner of a pleasure steamer moored on the Thames. He complains that someone has been damaging his boat, putting his business in jeopardy. Arrowood and his trusty sidekick Barnett suspect professional jealousy, but when a string of skulls is retrieved from the river, it seems like even fouler play is afoot. It’s up to Arrowood and Barnett to solve the case before any more corpses end up in the watery depths.

Just to disgusting for me
Revisado: 04-07-20
This was the third and will be the absolute last one I will read from this author. I read a lot of crime fiction and can handle the gore and grime as it is usually a necessary part of the story and sets the stage, so to speak. However, it seemed to me that the author of this book was just trying to disgust his readers with no purpose in mind. To much time was spent on describing nastiness. It's a unnessasary and unpleasant distraction from the story and the mystery. It's just weird.

Historia
Reverend Willie Maxwell was a rural preacher accused of murdering five of his family members for insurance money in the 1970s. With the help of a savvy lawyer, he escaped justice for years until a relative shot him dead at the funeral of his last victim. Despite hundreds of witnesses, Maxwell's murderer was acquitted—thanks to the same attorney who had previously defended the reverend. Casey Cep brings this story to life, from the shocking murders to the courtroom drama to the racial politics of the Deep South.

Detailed and fascinating
Revisado: 03-23-20
As someone that avarages about 2 audiobooks a week calculated over a year, I have nothing but praise for this listen. Well written book and skilled narrator. There is a lot of detail and bakround information on different subjects pertinent to the book. Some, I noticed found that tedious. I did not. Quite the opposite. I appreciated the detailed information. I have also read some reviews complaining about the misrepresentation of the South. I completely disagree. I found it honest and factual. It's an interesting, out of the ordinary read/ listen. Well done.

Good grief. So far fetched.
Revisado: 06-17-19
I used to enjoy this series, but good grief, this book was so far fetched and silly. I was rolling my eyes and could barley finish it half way through. Not one of her best. The characters are less and less believable with every book. I think I'll give up on this series now.

Fun, but not extraordinary
Revisado: 10-23-17
Fun and entertaining read. However, characters lack some depth and the sexual tensions between the two major characters is somewhat flat. Predictable outcome. I do feel the first two in this series had more depth.

A little disappointed
Revisado: 09-14-17
To make the main character seem smart the author systematically dumps down all other characters. The dialog is sometimes somewhat cartoonish. Overall predictable and less than satisfying.
