I hate Abridged books
Revisado: 09-27-24
The message that Pete offered in the book was good and there are great points that I am taking away and trying to work into my team in a trying environment. What I really hated was listening to it and THEN figuring out it was an abridged version. I hate abridged versions of books. I paid full price for the audio book, got part of a book and now if I want to know the whole book I have to buy the paper version. I would be $40+ dollars into all of it. I do audio books because I have a long commute and don't have time to turn pages on a book. Feeling very cheated.
Pete is a great coach and i heard someone mention the impact this book had on their life so I wanted to listen to it. Unfortunately I did not see it was abridged and part of a book doesn't do enough to pass on knowledge.

Historia
Hailed by The New York Times as "a marvel of storytelling", The Things They Carried’s portrayal of the boots-on-the-ground experience of soldiers in the Vietnam War is a landmark in war writing. Now, three-time Emmy Award winner-Bryan Cranston, star of the hit TV series Breaking Bad, delivers an electrifying performance that walks the book’s hallucinatory line between reality and fiction and highlights the emotional power of the spoken word.

Good narration

Not what I expected. The story was more personal stories and after hearing a story, later we were told it wasn't all true and correct. Liked the book. Narration was good and captivating.

Outstanding story
Revisado: 05-10-17
Would you consider the audio edition of Men in Green Faces to be better than the print version?
I have not read the print version but I can't imagine that my reading the story would have the same impact that the narrator added to the story.
What did you like best about this story?
The story line was great and the narrator was fabulous. The story was so encapsulating that I forgot parts of my drive. The story was riveting.
Which character – as performed by Jeff Gurner – was your favorite?
One of the characters he did well was "Doc" but he really did all of them so well that you forgot you were listening to one individual. The narrator did an outstanding job. I even recommended this to a friend who does voice over work
Any additional comments?
The story was great. I loved every minute of it. I listened to the book while on a long distance drive and also to and from work. At times I had to turn it off because I would get so wrapped up in the story that I needed to focus on the driving. This book is one that I will listen to again, maybe on a drive with my son.

Historia
The Last Punisher is a bold, no-holds-barred first-person account of the Iraq War. With wry humor and moving testimony, Kevin Lacz tells the story of his tour in Iraq with SEAL Team Three, the warrior elite of the navy. This legendary unit, known as The Punishers, included Chris Kyle ( American Sniper), Mike Monsoor, Ryan Job, and Marc Lee. These brave men were instrumental in securing the key locations in the pivotal 2006 Battle of Ramadi, told with stunning detail in this book.

Great Story, Narration a Distraction
Revisado: 09-16-16
What made the experience of listening to The Last Punisher the most enjoyable?
I enjoy the stories of our soldiers and their bravery and what they have done for our country. I was familiar with Chris Kyle's book and listening to anther member of his unit was interesting.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrator had odd breaks and timing in his narration. When it seemed that there should be a pause from one chapter or section to another, he rolled right in. The timing, pattern and pauses in his narration were disturbing and interrupted the flow of the story. I found myself distracted from the story line by the narrator.
Any additional comments?
I was uncertain if Kevin did additional tours, but it seemed like it. I believe the story was just to focus on the certain period of time.

Historia
The number one New York Times best-selling story about American Olympic triumph in Nazi Germany, the inspiration for the PBS documentary The Boys of '36, broadcast to coincide with the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 80th anniversary of the boys' gold medal race. Out of the depths of the Depression comes an irresistible story about beating the odds and finding hope in the most desperate of times - the improbable, intimate account of how nine working-class boys from the American West showed the world at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin what true grit really meant.

Outstanding book
Revisado: 08-27-16
What made the experience of listening to The Boys in the Boat the most enjoyable?
The narrator really captured my attention as he told this story. So interesting as the historical aspects of both America and Germany were woven into the story line. The story was so good, I found myself eager to stay in the car and listen.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Boys in the Boat?
One of the most memorable was the boys time in Germany for the Olympics and then capturing the Gold.
What does Edward Herrmann bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He brought the words to life in a manner that I might not have read in to them. Also, I was able to enjoy the book because I could listen on my commute where I don't have time to read a book like this. My wife read the book and I listened to it.
Any additional comments?
Such an outstanding story. I love the descriptions of what America was like during that time and also Germany. This is a book that our high school students should read. It tells our history in such a captivating manner. You can start to understand the emotions and lost hope behind pictures you see from the dust bowl era and depression.
I am sure I will listen again.
