Truly a Masterpiece, brilliant!

This was the first Hemingway novel and I will now be reading all the rest of his work. The plot is very engaging and the characters are extremely compelling. The style of the writing is absolutely beautiful. I can’t stop thinking about the characters, they were complex and engaging. The book has also sparked my interest in the Spanish civil war, a subject I was not very familiar with but is a fascinating subject. I will definitely listen to For whom the Bell Tolls again!

I’ve read many history books but this was surprisingly different and unique. Telling the story from personal accounts added fascinating layers of detail to a story many of us already know well. Gripping action, shocking tragedy and a great narrator combine to make one of the most compelling stories I’ve ever heard. A masterpiece in this working mans humble opinion.
