Nicely Done!
Revisado: 12-15-21
Dolin offers a well researched book on a topic few would dare tackle. A bit of a "dry" narration buy well worth the listen.

Good Audio Book - Horrible Sound Quality Spots
Revisado: 11-10-21
Well written "short version" with several interesting highlights. Several areas of the narrator dialogue are extremely bad sound quality. Not sure that can be blamed on Pinchot.

Historia
In Kindred, Neanderthal expert Becky Wragg Sykes shoves aside the cliché of the shivering ragged figure in an icy wasteland and reveals the Neanderthal you don’t know, who lived across vast and diverse tracts of Eurasia and survived through hundreds of thousands of years of massive climate change. Using a thematic rather than chronological approach, this book will shed new light on where they lived, what they ate and the increasingly complex Neanderthal culture that is being discovered.

Historia
George Murray Levick was the physician on Robert Falcon Scott's tragic Antarctic expedition of 1910. Marooned for an Antarctic winter, Levick passed the time by becoming the first man to study penguins up close. His findings were so shocking to Victorian morals that they were quickly suppressed and seemingly lost to history.

Historia
Most incidents and accidents are down to "human error". Unfortunately, human error is normal and common, and we can't get rid of it. However, we can reduce the likelihood of one of those - "oh shit moments" - if we have an understanding of human factors and develop our non-technical skills. This is a globally unique book containing decades of research and practice from high-risk domains translated into the world of recreational and technical diving.

Historia
Traditionally, Americans learned in school that the ancestors of the people who inhabited the Western Hemisphere at the time of Columbus' landing had crossed the Bering Strait 12,000 years ago; existed mainly in small nomadic bands; and lived so lightly on the land that the Americas were, for all practical purposes, still a vast wilderness. But as Charles C. Mann now makes clear, archaeologists and anthropologists have spent the last 30 years proving these and many other long-held assumptions wrong.

Historia
With this book - his most ambitious yet - Ken McGoogan delivers a vivid, comprehensive recasting of Arctic-exploration history. Dead Reckoning challenges the conventional narrative, which emerged out of Victorian England and focused almost exclusively on Royal Navy officers. By integrating non-British and fur-trade explorers and, above all, Canada's indigenous peoples, this work brings the story of Arctic discovery into the 21st century.

Former Monty Python stalwart and beloved television globe-trotter Michael Palin brings the fascinating story of the Erebus and its occupants to life, from its construction as a bomb vessel in 1826 through the flagship years of James Clark Ross's Antarctic expedition and finally to Sir John Franklin's quest for the holy grail of navigation - a route through the Northwest Passage, where the ship disappeared into the depths of the sea for more than 150 years. It was rediscovered under the arctic waters in 2014.

FANTASTIC!
Revisado: 11-11-18
Palin does a superb job at hitting all requisite details and facts to provide the reader (listener) with background and follows with well researched insight into the epic history of HMS Erebus with much attention to her sister-ship, HMS Terror.
One small drawback (for me) the narration seemed to quiet in volume in many areas which became slightly frustrating. Again, for me, this is perceived as a minor flaw.
