The storyline was OK. The main character attraction seemed to happen really fast but then the plot line was pretty long and drawn out without much excitement. I did not enjoy the narration. The narrators voice is fine in general but the performance was flat. The static noise chapter transitions toward the end were weird.

Different but Good

This was different than the usual romance novel. I liked the story, it kept me engaged. I like slow burns and ice queen themes but this one did drag it out much longer that I preferred. Given the length of the story, which I also liked, it would have been nice to get some earlier flames or sign of life in the romance. Another book with this author/narrator combination is Breaking Character. Overall I rate that book higher than this book. I look forward to discovering more.

E. J. Noyes and Abby Craden are an exceptional duo. This romance story is not the type I would ordinarily choose, however I haven't listened to a book by E. J. that I did not enjoy and this book was no exception.

loved the narration, did not love the story

The best part of this book was the narration. Though no matter how good Abby Craden is, this story still fell flat. It was a long slow burn with a few sparks but no real fire. I wanted to like it, I tried, and I kept listening until the very end but all I felt was disappointment.

E.J. Noyes is such a great writer. The story was intense and gripping, pulled me right in and kept me engaged, so much so that I finished the book and immediately started re-listening with my spouse. Abby Craden is the best. I'm so ruined/spoiled by her narration that I find it hard to listen to books she doesn't narrate.
