the background about her family of origin. you would be surprised that many ER depts ate staffed with people who grew up living in chaos, abuse and or violence. i.know because I worked in a regional hospital and did all the mental health consults. I was abused physically and emotionally as a child. I am 48 years so er from alcohol. I put myself in treatment at age 25 and had a lot of counseling the first two years on recovery.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

this book is full of surprises.
Revisado: 03-25-25
the first several chapters were not read with any inflection. once it got going 1/3 of the way through the beat picked up with the family history unveiled. this is a book about faith. Faith in the catholic church, in marriage, faith in ones abilities, friendships and belief in something greater than oneself. it is a book of finding identity, a sense of wellbeing and loyalty.there were some real surprises that made the book more interesting. because some readers don't want. it revealed beforehand I will leave the 3 big surprises that I loved to myself. This will be my next book club pick. I found it looking for unusual books fiction or nonfiction written in the USbefore 2000.. Specifically 1950 forward.Somehow as a search goes I was here, there and everywhere when this book popped up. I appreciate your skills and rated the book 5 with a 4 for performance in the begining. so that's really a 4.5. Bring it on. A mother book. after this I am googling you to see what else you have written.

this is Matthew's story about his life, his addiction and his relationships.
Revisado: 01-22-25
it isn't a story for the faint at heart. He goes into the nitty gritty of his addiction. He reviews his relationships from a young age until now. he was a very brave soul trying almost every thing possible to stay sober. despite all that he never learned the first step of sobriety which is complete abstinence. alas the addiction won as it always does to those who do not remain sober and cleanend ultimately abstinent with a good quality of life. I feel sad for his family and loved ones who demonstrated over and over their unconditional love for him. sad for the world. for all the negative happenings of this book it barely touches on the fact that he was a loved and valued human being.

Historia
Is it possible to write a sidesplitting novel about the breakup of the perfect marriage? If the writer is Nora Ephron, the answer is a resounding yes. For in this inspired confection of adultery, revenge, group therapy, and pot roast, the creator of Sleepless in Seattle reminds us that comedy depends on anguish as surely as a proper gravy depends on flour and butter.

I found the history of Vanderbilts a little hard to understand since it jumped back and forth as characters then and later until they met their demise. Anderson's Cooper was a bit hard to understand in places.

Until now, Kathryn Lyons's life has been peaceful if unextraordinary: a satisfying job teaching high school in the New England mill town of her childhood; a picture-perfect home by the ocean; a precocious, independent-minded fifteen-year-old daughter; and a happy marriage whose occasional dull passages she attributes to the unavoidable deadening of time.

Part 2 and part 3 were superb. part three flowed out like poetry for me. part two seemed to be based on cold hard facts but was fascinating. I love how Mildreds story and truth came out and made sense of her demise.
