Great first book!
Revisado: 07-23-19
This first book from Jess Whitby was absolutely wonderful. The characters were well developed and the twists and turns kept me interested. I listened to the whole thing in 2 days. Can’t wait for the next one!

Usually, I’m able to guess who the “bad guy” is rather early. I thought I had it pinned down but I was totally wrong! I was stunned. What a great listen!

A Great Listen
Revisado: 03-29-19
Even though I found the book predictable, I really enjoyed listening. The characters were so well developed. It felt like I knew them. The plot was also very well thought out and put together. The book is long but didn't feel slow. I'd say it's worth the credit.

Even though you kind of see the end coming, the buildup still made me nervous and anxious. It wasn’t very thrilling but it did have me questioning a lot of things. I actually really liked it.

Slow and unsatisfying
Revisado: 03-06-19
This is the first negative review I’ve ever written and I’m kind of nervous because all of the other reviews were so good. Here goes...
The story was very slow and clunky. Things didn’t start getting interesting until about 8 hours in. The supporting characters weren’t well developed so, when they did say something, it was obviously a clue to what was going on. There was really only one person that could be “bad guy” in this story of so, the big reveal had me rolling my eyes. There were no twists or turns. It just felt like a whole lot of nothing.
I say all of this with a heavy heart because I really enjoyed Valerie Keogh’s last book. I’m sure that the next one will be better.
Emma Newman slayed as always. I don’t know if I would have kept listening if she wasn’t narrating.

Slow in the beginning then too fast at the end
Revisado: 12-27-18
The book wasn’t full of twists and turns until the end. At times, it felt a little slow. I wish that the author would have gone deeper into the “why” - it was obvious but feels like the story ended too soon.

Another fabulous book by Shalini Boland! I was hooked from the very beginning. The characters were well developed and the twist at the end was completely out of left field. Even if you think you figured it out, you didn’t.

If you could sum up Elizabeth Is Missing in three words, what would they be?
If I could sum up Elizabeth is Missing in three words, they would be: Candid, Gripping, Funny.
What other book might you compare Elizabeth Is Missing to and why?
Honestly, there's no other book which I could compare to this story. I've never read a book that was told through the eyes of a woman with dementia.
What about Davina Porter’s performance did you like?
Davina Porter's performance was compelling and her voice was so wonderful to listen to.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
There were quite a few times I found myself laughing in each chapter. Although Maude (the main character) has dementia, she's quite funny and witty. I really liked her character a lot.

Historia
A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged. Left behind is a lonely 15-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother's sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from - a place to which she vowed she'd never return.

Confusing at first but worth it in the end
Revisado: 11-13-17
This book isn't like any audiobook I've listened to in the past. There were several narrators and, at times, the book was hard to follow.
Once I got the hang of it, the book was riveting and kept me interested until the very end. I wish there was a sequel because it was so interesting!
