Historia
No longer bound to Earth or the Core Sol System, the human race has expanded into the far beyond, seeding itself throughout the final frontier. It has been a time of great expansion, hope, and progress. These remote colonies, some found at the fringes of the Outer Rim, rely on supplies brought to them by deep-space commercial shipping vessels, which transport the needed goods and commodities to keep humanity alive and thriving in the most remote and austere locations.

Really good understanding of horror/suspense by the author. Great ambience and no fluff/politics. Really hope to see more from the author. Narrator is a little monotone, but does a good job.

Still got it
Revisado: 01-23-24
The first Thor spinoff was good, but didn't blow my socks off. This one had plenty of action and could've been two or even three books if they wanted to expand on some things. I'm glad they didn't go cheap and split it up over multiple installments. Renewed my interest in the series.

It’s autumn in the town of Harrow, but something besides the season is changing there. Because in that town there is an orchard, and in that orchard, seven most unusual trees. And from those trees grows a new sort of apple: strange, beautiful, with skin so red it’s nearly black. Take a bite of one of these apples, and you will desire only to devour another. And another. You will become stronger. More vital. More yourself, you will believe. But then your appetite for the apples and their peculiar gifts will keep growing—and become darker.

about 14 hours of politics
Revisado: 11-22-23
Wendig is a talented writer and he had a decent novel concept for this book, but its just packed to the gills with more political pandering I've ever seen. it disrupts and detracts from the story when 2/3s of the book is just contemporary political garbage. would not recommend.

Historia
The city streets are no longer safe. They are filled instead with the living dead, rotting predators driven only by a need to kill and eat. Some of the living still struggle to survive, but with each passing day, their odds grow worse. Some survivors have fled, frantically searching for a place to escape, even briefly, the slaughter around them.

Don't know where to start
Revisado: 06-29-23
Mild spoilers.
I found this book wildly frustrating after the first two chapters or so. Narrator did a good job, but thats pretty much the only positive thing I have to say. The horror aspect of the book takes a backseat to the MCs race and sexuality, which is not what I look for in a horror/zombie novel. Pretty early on, an adult character gives an 8 year old boy a live grenade, which made less sense than the zombie plague in the first place. It's just all of the overdone cliches from the genre wrapped up into one book with a side of virtue signaling.

Little is a one trick pony
Revisado: 06-27-23
I've listened to quite a few of Little's books, but this is going to be the last. I think he writes well for the most part and comes up with some cool concepts (some work, some don't) and his books aren't bad, but he can't seem to write a book without shoehorning politics and race baiting into it. Maybe I'm in the minority here and most people don't mind eating every meal with a side of "white guilt", but it breaks the immersion and I think he could write better books without using racism as a crutch or throwing in some thinly veiled politics (when theres a veil at all) for some cheap confirmation bias thrills. Aside from all that, the pace is sporadic, but overall too slow. Something horrific and world-changing will occur and then the next thing you know, they've moved back to bland dialogue and forgotten about that life-altering thing. Pretty frustrating.

Revisado: 06-15-23
I thought this sounded like a cool/fun concept, but it didn't deliver. A bunch of covid and political garbage is stuffed in there, which is never a great choice. Pretty disappointed considering that I've enjoyed some of Little's other books

I don't get it
Revisado: 04-03-23
There are a lot of things that are overdone in the post-apocalyptic genre and this series hits on all of them. A lot of terms are overused to the point that I believe the repetition is some type of passive aggressive slight against the reader. You can only say "Billy drawled" (referring to a verbal statement by Billy) one or two times before it gets weird, but it doesn't make sense for someone to "drawl" in a life or death situation even once. I think the series is a cool idea, but the dialog could have been better executed and the story in general could be less repetitive. I don't know why I've listened so far into this series.

Great addition to a great series
Revisado: 02-27-23
Big fan of the series. Great story, action, detail and performance by Grant. Less digression than other installments, but digression is an important and well-executed part of this series (and Cole's writing in general, apparently). Two thumbs up, more please.

Great addition to the series
Revisado: 07-22-22
I thought this was a great addition to the series. Fuchs is arguably one of the best in the genre, if not the best. I will say that it didn't quite grab me like the main series did, but the main series scratched every itch I had as well as some itches I didn't know about. Idk how Fuchs got out, but someone needs to lock him back in the basement so I can have more.
