Historia
In Armageddon, acclaimed New Testament authority Bart D. Ehrman delves into the most misunderstood—and possibly the most dangerous—book of the Bible, exploring the horrifying social and political consequences of expecting an imminent apocalypse and offering a fascinating tour through three millennia of Judeo-Christian thinking about how our world will end. By turns hilarious, moving, troubling, and provocative, Armageddon presents inspiring insights into how to live our lives in the face of an uncertain future.

The good doctor does it again
Revisado: 09-12-23
We always look the doctor for a cure and in this case we get the rapture sewed up and put in a nice little box. this is just more evidence that the New Jerusalem is the church body. the ecclesia the followers of Christ. the small facts that the doctor brings the light is evidence that demands of verdict. the doctor's very arguments prove that Jesus rose from the grave and it's a resurrection is a fact of historical, spiritual and personal belief in a actual event. next time someone starts bad babbling the they're at pure and the restoration of Israel. and Jerusalem replacement of the temple and all of that hand them a copy of this book. you don't have to like the man. you don't have to even believe him, but believe the facts he presents.

I knew the words but not the message
Revisado: 08-10-23
I was taught the Bible from my childhood.
I had never heard the true message until I read this book. do not read it or listen to it unless you want your life deliberately positively changed for the better.
some of the readers had a soft voice that was hard to understand. otherwise. perfect.

Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

did not see the enchantment others have
Revisado: 06-21-23
the vulgarity doesn't add to the drama or the message the young man is trying to express through his ignorant language skills
I just don't get it. why is this book so good when the story never comes together and it's expressed by evil ways. I've been under fed under educated poor white trash from the hill country that never had a fighting chance
yep, I guess it would resonate with many or young man. it has nothing to do to prove their manhood today.
I will pass as I have known real heroes and real men

Author of the National Book Award-winning All the Pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy is one of the most provocative American stylists to emerge in the last century. The striking novel Blood Meridian offers an unflinching narrative of the brutality that accompanied the push west on the 1850s Texas frontier.

used many words that I don't think cowboys knew or would be expected to know. I do like his pros in the road and all the pretty horses and did not think the gruesome was worse than that of the lonesome Dove series from Holly weird

really enjoyed listening to this. I'll have to go back and listen again but it was good to see into the heart of a warrior and understand what they go through
I was amazed at the same things that Chuck did and experienced in Vietnam even though I was in Northern icore a year later.
. even though I was not on any sniper team nor did I service as a sniper.
great respect Chuck, and congratulations on a wonderful career with forest service

N.T talks to friend
Revisado: 12-11-19
The first part is boring, the rest is mediocre N.T., The background noise and bad audio are not helping the retelling of the stories NT and friend talk over each other about. Save your time the N.T Wright books before are way better. I won't even try the second part unless someone guarantees new material and clear audio with no background of a city cafe,

Jesus is or He is not?
Revisado: 10-16-19
As part of my recent 3 yr study of the early Ekklesia. or Church History from the Ressurection to the 4th Century as my major 50 yrs ago. We searched many controversial resources. One stands out as the most critical of the New Testament as we know it. As critics go I will assume he knows his subject and we feel it is good to know the worst case of biblical criticism we will encounter is explained and understood instead of defended when our ignorance overwhelms us and we come off as stupid in the eye of the beholder. One that is saying for instance that Acts 8:37 is an interpolation added like some other verses later in the 2nd century. We then say the Canon is inerrant or sola scripture; we come off as ignorant and uneducated. The professor does say that history proves the life of Jesus, but history outside of the early writings does not prove the resurrection. If the author could prove Jesus did not rise by history or disprove the ressurection he would. He can not and that is the best the atheist has at present. Most of his "mistakes" he points out do not change the message only reinforce the Truth when understood in the context of time and history. True knowledge comes to the believer that is obedient to the command of Jesus, Gal 5:14 the rest is religion.

Step back to Christianity's first three centuries to see how it transitioned from the religion of Jesus to a religion about Jesus. How did a single group from among many win the struggle for dominance to establish the beliefs central to the faith, rewrite the history of Christianity's internal conflicts, and produce a canon of sacred texts – the New Testament – that supported its own views?

Jesus sez "Truth will make you Free"
Revisado: 07-10-19
Someone wrote in their review "I can appreciate church history taught from a neutral, secular position. What I can’t appreciate is 12 hours of lectures clearly presented with an aim to transform Christianity into a silly, contradictory, intellectually dishonest, cultic fringe religion that only thrived through the millennia because Constantine half-heartedly joined the cult and forced it on the world" Most of his talk is about stuff that makes no difference in my faith. A lot of religion is based on the facts he presents. None of mine is.
What they missed is the transition from the simple Gospel message of Jesus to the "silly, contradictory, intellectually dishonest, cultic fringe religion that only thrived through the millennia because Constantine half-heartedly joined the cult and forced it on the world" that we have come to see as "Church"
Listen to Bart with an eye on History, He is accurate and fact-checked he is a scholar of critical examination of the history of the religion of Jesus and how it has become divided, denominated daughters of the whore of Babylon. Time to restore the simple message of the Gospel, Galatians 5:14 and drop all the pretentious religious trappings of entertainment religion that appeals, controls and pleases the masses. Enjoy!

Sex and money scandals. An exploding divorce rate. Drug-addicted youths. And an ever-growing worldliness. Today's evangelical church is fighting battles on all fronts. And we seem to be losing these battles to the relentlessly encroaching world. Perhaps the answers to our problems are not in the present, but in the past. Because there was time when Christians were able to stand up to world.

Know where your salvation comes from God not man's
Revisado: 07-04-19
Where does the authority for the "Church" come from? What happened to the Ekklesia? When did they start doing that practice? What is the source of all the rules, rituals and titles in the "church"? Do you know where all the doctrine comes from or do you trust a "pastor" or theologian to keep that up for you? Where is the authority for infant baptism, tithe, altar, sinner's prayer, paid staff, huge buildings as a sanctuary, temples built by men, etc? Restore the first things. Obey the few commands of Jesus, reject the rules and rituals of the divided, denominated daughters of the whore of Babylon. Come to Jesus the perfector of our faith. Flee the reverends, fathers, and rulers of men to the humble service in the kingdom of God. Bercot is accused of being a JW, What were you before you were saved? We all have our prejudices and preconceived notions and opinions. What does the word say? Rightly divided not a mixed covenant with old and new rules added together. Remove your veil and buy salve so you can see. We have one law to follow that is over every law. That is the Royal Law of Jesus. Galatians 5:14, everything else is religion and "Skybalon" Be sure to follow this read up with David's book "Will the real Theologians"

Whether taken as a book of faith or a cultural artifact, the New Testament is among the most significant writings the world has ever known, its web of meaning relied upon by virtually every major writer in the last 2,000 years. Yet the New Testament is not only one of Western civilization’s most believed books, but also one of its most widely disputed, often maligned, and least clearly understood, with a vast number of people unaware of how it was written and transmitted.

Must read for any student of the NT
Revisado: 06-13-19
If the New Testament has a message it is Love. Religion has not mixed up the one law, just all the rest. Bart Ehrman, has written many books and taught many students about his view of Jesus from a historical perspective. Dr Bart has an author page/blog. He is pretty clear on the facts of the New Testament, Early Church, and Jesus Christ from his opinion of the historical record. I find the facts are just that if verifiable and accurate facts are used. The facts are in history. I appreciate the history lesson. Most denominated, divided "Christians" have no clue of their roots or where the rules, clergy, rituals, and doctrine they follow came from. I will understand the historical facts don't prove everything we followers accept as God's Word. If we have a physical object to prove the "Empty tomb" or a real piece of the cross, Would our faith be stronger or not faith at all since it is based on feelings about things? God wants our love and obedience is what I get from the overall message of the NT. The opinions of DrErhman are sprinkled like road apples on a nice walking trail. I would not share Dr Ehrmans' opinions with new believers unless the person is very strong in their personal faith and is willing to study the NT with the open mind. It is evident Bart(he sez so) has no faith in Jesus as a savior. We must know the facts! The lies of the social/political/state run religion down thru history are the voice of a dragon that lives like a sheep. The divided denominated religious world needs the facts of the New Testament revealed by a gifted scholar-like Bart. As a follower of Jesus, reading this is revealing like reading your families criminal history. I am firm in my faith that Jesus arose. Bart has only conjecture and his ideas on what happened to Jesus. I am firm in my belief in God. I know that the message of the Messiah is Love, Galatians 5:14, all the rest is religion and is "skybalon" sez Paul the Apostle. I will read some Francis Chan, David Bercot, N.T.Wright, and other progressive Followers of Jesus. No more need to hear Dr Bart. "When someone shows you who they are, Believe them" M. Angelou.
