These are the greatest radio shows in history, and Carl Amari is a genius. The story was far fetched, but fun nonetheless.

These are so well done, and I prefer many of the episodes over to the TV show. My only critique is the ending of the episode. Hey lady, Say it!

It had potential
Revisado: 09-07-24
The whole neighborhood decided the end of the world was imminent and they all came to the conclusion their only hope was to take over their good friend’s bomb shelter? Not a freethinker in the bunch? Not believable.

Some fun NFL facts in a can of corn. Not for me, but DP’s narration was top notch.

Lighthearted and fun episode. In my opinion, this version flowed better and is much better overall than the TV episode.

I love the series, but this was horrible. Some of these stories are not a good fit for radio.

Historia
Muhammad Ali, in the late 1960s, was young, successful, brash, and hugely admired - but with some reservations. He was bombastic and cocky in a way that captured the imagination of America but also drew its detractors. He was a bold young African American in an era when few people were as outspoken. He renounced his name - Cassius Clay - as being his 'slave name' and joined the Nation of Islam, renaming himself Muhammad Ali. And finally, in 1966, after being drafted, he refused to join the military for religious and conscientious reasons.

Have you listened to any of J. D. Jackson’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have listened to many audio books, and J.D. Jackson's narration here is the best that I have heard to date. Amazing!

Historia
No college basketball coach has ever dominated the sport like John Wooden. His UCLA teams reached unprecedented heights in the 1960s and '70s, capped by a run of ten NCAA championships in twelve seasons and an eighty-eight-game winning streak, records that stand to this day. Wooden also became a renowned motivational speaker and writer, revered for his "Pyramid of Success." The portrait that emerges from Davis's remarkable biography is of a man in full, whose life story still resonates today.

Well written and researched book. Dry narration.
Revisado: 09-23-14
Would you try another book from Seth Davis and/or Stephen McLaughlin?
This was the best book I have ever heard/read about the legendary Coach Wooden. Seth Davis did a masterful job! I only wish I would have taken the time to read this book instead of listening to it. I have no idea why narrators like McLaughlin stay employed. He was as dry as dust. I had to double the speed on my iPod to endure his monotone droning.
How could the performance have been better?
See my initial comments.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
This story would not make for a good movie.
