A story of cozy horror that had me captivated and enamored with this world and cast of characters Wiswell has conjured here in Someone You Can Build A Nest In. If the words "Cozy Horror" doesn't sound wonderful to you, what are you doing here? NOT my kinda people. We need more stories like this that fall into this ultra specific subgenre written by progressive authors like John Wiswell. If you found yourself in love with the story and characters of David Sodergren's The Haar or if you just enjoy a queer romance set in a dark(er) toned fantasy world, this book is perfect for your shelf. While much of the subject matter surrounding familiar trauma, body horror, and body autonomy could be read as divisive, I think those whom have either shared similar experiences or find comfort in the strange and the obscene (or just have decent reading comprehension and an appreciation for great prose and witty, black humor) will thoroughly relate to and enjoy this tale. I loved every sentence of this book... even the disgusting ones. What a refreshing take on what it means to be human from a perspective we seldom get to hear form. Shesheshen and Homily have burrowed themselves deeply into my brain, into my heart guts and I will not soon forget them.

I enjoyed thoroughly this book. One of my favorite from King in a long, long while and definitely has its hooks and fangs in my top 30 books and in my top 15 horror books of all time. The show on HBO is also an incredibly faithful and equally compelling adaptations. I can’t wait to follow Holly’s journey into If It Bleeds and Holly. Highly recommend this one for anyone hungry for a good and dark Cryptid mystery from the master of Horror. There really is no end to his universe.
