This book is important
Revisado: 02-09-21
It’s like someone took all my trauma and wrote it down. Then Amber Ruffin and her sister read it out loud. If only America would listen and learn.
I doubt it.
While China and Russia are a engaging us in a 22nd century cyberwar, we’re still having debates about blackface.
We’re gonna lose the next war. Coming soon to a theater of War near you.

Historia
With the south in full rebellion, the goblins stirring on the northern frontier, and the summer capital being run by a corrupt baron and a gang of thugs, things could be better. But those aren’t the worst of her problems: Pentandra is learning how to live with her new husband, Arborn, while the town is driven to distraction by an incarnate sex goddess who is organizing all of the whores, a mopey spellmonger, a nun addicted to gambling, a prude sent by the queen, undead skulking through the shadows, and a mysterious blind girl shows up in her office claiming to be her new apprentice.

Steak Dinner with all the trimmings
Revisado: 03-29-19
Once again Terry Mancour and John Lee hammer out an incredibly compelling story. Exquisitely told and performed. Unlike most modern fantasy which only gives you the bare minimum to entertain the audience, between Mancours deep dive into all the nuances of his characters and Lee lending both gravitas and convincing characterizations across the board (and in the process correcting some sloppy editing in the print versions) these well told tales are a 7 course meal of an audible experience
Simply cannot wait for Shadowmage so I can put voice to Tyndal and Rondal as they pursue their errantry in Southern Alshar. That’ll be fun.

Historia
Just yesterday, Sergeant Gil MacDonald and his APC crew had been fending off an ambush in a Viet Nam jungle. In the middle of the firefight, some kind of magic spell had transported them to this Fantasy Land complete with flying dragons, wizards, crazy castles, and dispossessed princes. They would stay trapped here forever unless they could rescue the sorceress Gabrielle. Master magician Amon held her captive in his palace; and to reach her, Gil and his men would have to infiltrate Hell itself!

A good listen
Revisado: 08-06-18
I enjoy this series It was a great discovery in my youth when I was just beginning my appreciation of epic fantasy. Doomfarers is chock full of well formed and interesting characters, situations and adventure.
I enjoyed Beierle’s voice and his pacing but just like his reading of “The Belgariad” series, there are smatterings of mispronunciations of words (i.e Shore-Timer instead of the military pronunciation SHORT-Timer) which draws me out of the listen sometimes.
Still and all a great story and a solid performance overall.
Highly recommended.

A satisfying meal
Revisado: 07-23-18
One thing that can be said about the Super Powered series,They certainly fill you up. Rather than break the story into 10 smaller books, you get to enjoy the entire ride from start to finish.
And an epic finish it is. All the storylines resolve, everyone finds their place and no one (except Amber) is left behind.
It’s also nice to know that somewhere in the future, Mr. Hayes plans to revisit this fully evolved and fleshed our universe he’s created.
But between this world, the anticipated Forging Hephaestus series and other projects, he’s going to be a very busy writer.

Historia
The epic and highly anticipated conclusion to the listener-favorite series that had countless Audible listeners (and employees) hooked from the very first Bob - featuring, as always, a flawless performance from the inimitable Ray Porter. Being a sentient spaceship really should be more fun. But after spreading out through space for almost a century, Bob and his clones just can't stay out of trouble. They've created enough colonies so humanity shouldn't go extinct.

A nice neat ending
Revisado: 06-18-18
Sometimes a snack is as good as a meal. Mr. Taylor has brought the Bobiverse to a nice intersection, a pause at a stop sign before continuing the journey. I look forward to the next iteration of this tale.
Mr. Porter gives an excellent performance but I will continue to protest the mispronunciation of eridani (er-ih-DAH-nee not ir-rid-a-nee)
Just my inner astrophysics geek rant.
Love The Bob. More Bob please. Soon.

To add to the surprise, he is now a sentient computer and the controlling intelligence for a Von Neumann probe. Bob and his copies have been spreading out from Earth for 40 years now, looking for habitable planets. But that's the only part of the plan that's still in one piece.

Revisado: 06-16-18
This sat in my listening que for far too long. So far the Bobiverse is engaging thrilling and thought provoking.
But I have one rant. Eridani.
Err-ih-dah-nee not ih-rid-ah-nee.
It just jerks the chain of my inner astrophysics nerd.
Rant ends.

Bland performance but serviceable
Revisado: 04-02-18
An interesting listen but some mispronunciations (more-tar?) and the generally banal reading took me out of the story.
There is an air of mystery and discovery about the abilities on display but those seem to have been shuffled to the second book.
The use of an echoplex to differentiate normal speech from telepathic communication is very clever.
I’m intrigued enough to kindle the second book but the performance on display lacks the kind of luster I’ve come to expect from audible.

Historia
When struggling riverboat captain Abner Marsh receives an offer of partnership from a wealthy aristocrat, he suspects something’s amiss. But when he meets the hauntingly pale, steely-eyed Joshua York, he is certain. For York doesn’t care that the icy winter of 1857 has wiped out all but one of Marsh’s dilapidated fleet. Nor does he care that he won’t earn back his investment in a decade. York has his own reasons for wanting to traverse the powerful Mississippi. And they are to be none of Marsh’s concern - no matter how bizarre, arbitrary, or capricious his actions may prove.
