Historia
Conceited, unattainable, and downright delicious, renowned Michelin-starred chef Ambrose Casablancas has one passion in life: food. Women are a distraction, and he doesn’t do those. Especially Cal Litvin, his baby sister’s best friend. Her entire existence is a complication; she’s awkward, eccentric, infuriating… And, much to his chagrin, hotter than his kitchen. Ambrose has a lot on his plate: a new restaurant to open, a multi-million-dollar property deal to execute, and a violent stalker to tame. Then Cal shows up at his doorstep.

All the best tropes
Revisado: 11-10-24
This is a darker romance which perfectly matched my mood after my mom died. My heart broke for Cal as her past was unveiled chapter by chapter. And yet, I also found myself yelling at her to get out of her own way. And then there’s Row whose grumpiness and lashing out at Cal initially turned me against him until I saw that it was his protective mechanism to keep himself from falling harder for Cal. I loved how he articulated his feelings for Cal.
Thankfully, the online, secret identity chats leant some much needed comic relief.
Audiobook thoughts:
Teddy Hamilton nailed Row’s grumpy, abrasive personality and turned up the heat with his narration of Row’s dirty talk. Cal’s quirky, sunshiney personality really came through with Lila Winters’ performance.

Historia
A forbidden romance with my brother’s hockey teammate wasn’t on my to-do list when I moved across the country… Neither was getting locked out of a friend’s place wearing next to nothing. Or spending the night with the sexy stranger who rescues me. But I’m trying to get out of my comfort zone so getting out of the rest of my clothes with him seems like a good way to start. In the morning, I learn the filthy-mouthed man with the talented hands is not only the hotshot new hockey player on my brother’s team: he’s also–wait for it–my brand new roommate.

Everything I love in a hockey romcom
Revisado: 10-02-24
This was so fantastic and everything I want from a hockey romcom. The spice, banter, and humor was perfection. The duet narration by Connor Crais and Erin Mallon was one of the best things I’ve listened to in a while. Erin narrates quirkiness like no other, and Connor nailed Wesley’s personality. Listen to the audio and thank me later because they truly brought the story to life.
The meet cute between Josie and Wesley had me laughing and covering my face in second-hand embarrassment. Then there is the bucket list Josie must complete which gets her out of her comfort zone. Of course Wesley offers to complete it with her. And is there anyone who doesn’t like a good counter scene (even if it doesn’t seem practical in real life)?
I loved the notes, texts, and emails they sent to one another. I’m a sucker for these epistolary components.
