The closest we will ever get to seeing the Documentary
Revisado: 04-04-25
I have 12 books on Prince in my library and this is by far the best. It’s real and honest. This and Mark Browns book I feel are the realest of all of them. It explains so much with those that lived around him. Of course we have heard many of these stories before but, I’ve never heard Susanna go into as much detail of her time with him. Very compelling., great job putting all this together!

Great insight
Revisado: 08-12-24
He has a great life story. I don’t want to only think of him for that horrible 3min on stage. And it was a really horrible 3min. But, a life shouldn’t be defined by our worst 3min in life.

Historia
Barbara Butcher was early in her recovery from alcoholism when she found an unexpected lifeline: a job at the Medical Examiner’s Office in New York City. The second woman ever hired for the role of Death Investigator in Manhattan, she was the first to last more than three months. The work was gritty, demanding, morbid, and sometimes dangerous—and she loved it. In What the Dead Know, she writes with the kind of New York attitude and bravado you might expect from decades in the field, investigating more than 5,500 death scenes, 680 of which were homicides.

I don’t know why people are complaining about her talking about her life geezzz it’s not the whole book and to know her job you need to know a bit of her life.
It’s an interesting story she tells and I’m glad in listened.

Great stories behind the music
Revisado: 03-11-22
This is possibly the closest we get to Susan Rogers writing her own book. She had a front row seat to his genius, I keep hoping she would write a book.
Here she gives many stories within the studio of what was happening around the creation of many songs.
I’m only left to wonder once Paisley Park opened if records were kept as was the case with Sunset Sound to produce another book within this series.

His name was David Crockett. He never signed his name any other way, but popular culture transformed his memory into "Davy Crockett", and Hollywood gave him a raccoon hat he hardly ever wore. Best-selling historian Michael Wallis casts a fresh look at the frontiersman, storyteller, and politician behind these legendary stories.

Great telling of a mans life
Revisado: 11-03-21
This is an honest account if David Crocketts life. I learned so much more than the legends I grew up hearing.
The narrator did a fantastic job.

Great information
Revisado: 09-08-21
It’s great to have someone read all this info rather than go over the documents yourself.
Of course the narrator could of been much better. Mispronouncing Princes first wife’s name shows he isn’t much a fan. While I don’t think you have to be a fan or even like the material you read as a narrator, it’s distracting at points with his breathy delivery.
But the information provided made up for the narrator.

Historia
Within FBI field operative circles, groups of people known as “Special” by their titles alone, Michael R. McGowan is an outlier. Over the course of his career, McGowan has worked more than 50 undercover cases. In this extraordinary and unprecedented book, McGowan will take listeners through some of his biggest cases, from international drug busts to the Russian and Italian mobs to biker gangs and contract killers to corrupt unions and SWAT work. Ghost is an unparalleled view into how the FBI, through the courage of its undercover Special Agents, nails the bad guys.

Great stories but a bit self congratulatory
Revisado: 01-18-19
If he had stuck to the stories of being undercover the highs and lows it would have been 5 star great!
At times it seems he wrote it to settle old scores with superiors and FBI HQ. To talk of people he felt did a bad job in their roles or organization. He also praises his friends and others that helped him.
Overall, I think the undercover stories made it a good book to listen to.
