A little too heavy at times
Revisado: 08-17-22
but the story was interesting and the narrators easy to listen to.
Even though the story is fiction, it hits heavy to think that people like this could exist in the world.

Two comedians look at a small town, what makes it tick, and a murder that took place there. In depth research, horrible tragedy, and the hosts' comedic spin on the whole thing. New episodes every Thursday!!

Historia
Aged 13, Theo Decker, son of a devoted mother and a reckless, largely absent father, survives an accident that otherwise tears his life apart. Alone and rudderless in New York, he is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. He is tormented by an unbearable longing for his mother, and down the years clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, strangely captivating painting that ultimately draws him into the criminal underworld.

'Optional' headline: It was okay.
Revisado: 11-30-21
David Pittu was amazing but the story is not one that I would read a second time. Only a small portion of it really captured me and about 2/3 of way in, it started to feel a tad long. The narration is what kept me going until the end.

I love Wil Wheaton but why not R. C. Bray?

An enjoyable experience
Revisado: 07-18-21
I loved it, but in my opinion a lot characters' personalities were lost in the narration. I imagined every character as Wil Wheaton in major contrast to the characters portrayed in the film adaptation of this book. Notwithstanding, this reading did not stop me from enjoying the story and Wil's portrayal of the protagonist over all.
Out of sheer curiosity, I will probably hunt down and listen to the version of RC Bray soon.

Pleasantly surprised
Revisado: 07-12-21
Great story! I really enjoyed it over-all, both the reading and the story. The narration and portrayal of the characters is really well executed. It made the book easy to listen to and even easier to relate to the characters.
I was completely drawn in by the setting and emotional warfare going on between husband and wife while things get spookier, but in the end, what really made this story is the almost surreal completely plausible circumstances that they found themselves in.
After finishing this book, I found myself looking for more books by the same author. I also really enjoyed the writing style. It is reminiscent of the Until Dawn game.
I want to say so much more but don't want to ruin anything for would be readers. For now - it's a recommendation in my book.

Expected something else
Revisado: 05-16-21
I decided to give this one the benefit of the doubt after reading the synopsis but it just didn't get there. It was not what I expected. The story starts off strong but after that the whole plot becomes vague. The start of the slippery slope because it completely lost me at the end.
I don't know if I'm missing something. This one just wasn't for me.
The narrators were great.
