My all-time favorite book!!!
Revisado: 07-13-22
I have a lot of favorite books, and my list is always changing. But this book has always been at the top, ever since I read it many years ago.
It is one of my comfort books that I read (or listen to) when times are rough. Every time I read it I feel closer to nature, and I want to go out and live in my own mountain.
While this is not a tightly packed action book, it has a magic of its own that will satisfy every person who has ever wanted to run away and live in the woods.

Historia
Fourteen-year-old Ozzy lives near Portland, Oregon, and is desperate for help. His scientist parents have been kidnapped after discovering a formula that enables mind control. Their work was so top secret that Ozzy is afraid to go to the police, but without help, he fears he'll never find his parents. Then he stumbles across a classified ad in the local newspaper that says "Wizard for Hire. Call 555-SPEL." Ozzy has read about wizards in books like Harry Potter, but wizards couldn't exist today, could they? After Ozzy meets the wizard Labyrinth - a.k.a. Rin - he's even more skeptical.

One of my favorite fantasy stories
Revisado: 03-11-22
Read this book if you like wizards, good quotes, and breakfast food!
Amazing story! The characters are very likeable and fun! The wizard is the best wizard I have ever read about! Clark is an entertaining sidekick! And everybody feels for Ozzy.
The performer for this book is excellent with expression and voices! One of my favorite narrators.
I'm not a fan of book 2 & 3 but love this one!

Inspiring series for all ages
Revisado: 09-01-21
This whole series is a family favorite for us! We got each audio on Audible as soon as it came out and waited each year for the next book. Excellent cliff hangers, by the way :)
The narrator is one of the best in my opinion. We especially like the tunes they put to the songs!
I love this story for many reasons. One is that the rabbits - skittish, frightened, and unassuming - fight back against the enemy. The theme of courage and spirit when faced with impossible odds is contagious and reins throughout the whole book! This, mixed with a classic dystopia, makes this series irresistible to all ages.

Historia
When Harold Godwinson is crowned king of England in 1066, William of Normandy contests his right to be king because of an oath Harold had earlier sworn to support William's own acquisition of the throne. Henty's treatment of this critical time in history of the English people is even-handed, and his portrayal of Harold Godwinson - a king much neglected in our day - is a sympathetic one. Wulf of Steyning, a young Saxon thane in the service of Earl Harold, accompanies him on his fateful trip to Normandy.

History in a story
Revisado: 07-29-21
Like all of Henty's stories that I have read, this one is interesting and teaches the readers (or listeners) well.
The narrator was pretty good to my ears.

Historia
The Saxons and Vikings fought many fierce battles in Britain in the eighth and ninth centuries. During the struggle, 23-year-old Alfred ascended the throne and temporarily beat back the pagan hordes and concluded a peace treaty. Following another war in 878, peace was again achieved; the Danish King Guthrum accepted Christianity and withdrew to East Anglia, and Alfred the Great fortified cities, built a navy, codified laws, and revived learning among the Saxons until his death in AD 900. The hero is a Saxon thane named Edmund who joins the forces of King Alfred.

Good for readers who want to learn more Medieval
Revisado: 07-22-21
The story helped me learn a lot while at the same time it was interesting. Not on-the-edge-of-your-seat interesting, it is more of the "quiet interesting" that many older books are. I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to anybody wanting to learn more Medieval history through a good story.
Good narrator, though not a lot of expression. But that was intentional.

Good story and moral
Revisado: 06-18-21
My favorite book I've read by Howard Pyle so far! The story of a young boy who chooses kindness over harshness is simple but touching. It gives you a realistic feel of the kinder side of the Dark Age.

Nice stories that you don't hear often

It was fun to see the variety in culture. The story of Rumplestiltskin, for example, changed a lot.
Love this like I love all fairytales!
