Historia
Years before the name Alex Murdaugh was splashed across every major media outlet in America, local South Carolina journalist Mandy Matney had an instinct that something wasn’t right in the Lowcountry. The powerful Murdaugh dynasty had dominated rural South Carolina for generations. No one dared to cross them.

Not what I was expecting
Revisado: 05-24-24
Expected more of the crime and drama… Did not expect to have to listen to a personal narrative about the authors, dating life, etc. Facts about the case were very interesting and well presented, but did not really care to listen to all the other personal stuff. If I was 20 years old, it might’ve appealed to me, but I’m far from it! The narration also left something to be desired. The slow cadence about drove me nuts.

Historia
Valdez Jones VIII calls himself Wrecker because his great-great-great-great-great-grandfather salvaged shipwrecks for a living. So is it destiny, irony, or just bad luck when Wrecker comes across a speedboat that has run hard aground on a sand flat? The men in the boat don't want Wrecker to call for help—in fact, they'll pay him to forget he ever saw them. Wrecker would be happy to forget, but he keeps seeing these men all over Key West—at the marina, even in the cemetery. And now they want more than his silence—they want a lookout.

Wish Hiaasen would get off his political soapbox
Revisado: 09-30-23
I get it that Hiaasen wants to preach values… Or at least his values, which is his right as it’s his book. I’ve read this guy for years, but I’m sick of this. Wish he would get back to making us laugh with his eccentric sense of humor And characters. After reading squeeze, and then this… I’m done.

But the President is focused on the disappearance of Kiki Pew.

If you want to hear more of Hiaasen’s political rantings…
Revisado: 09-29-23
I’ve listened and read this man’s books for years. I’ve always loved him. Lightly though he seems to have a fixation on Trump. It’s not even funny anymore. I know losing one reader won’t matter to him, but I am really disappointed that he can’t get over this and move on. It just gets old.

If you are looking for a story about cheerful youngsters spending a jolly time at boarding school, look elsewhere. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire are intelligent and resourceful children, and you might expect that they would do very well at school. Don't.

Awful narration!
Revisado: 02-14-23
Paul is a cute story to follow, the narrators voice actually hurts my ears at times. I will have to finish reading the series as I cannot listen to him! I would rather be in a room full of rocking chairs and long tailed cats hearing them, screech, and pay to hear that man!

Historia
Not one, but two dead bodies are found in the harsh New Mexico desert. The first man's face is smashed beyond recognition, and the second one appears to have been forced to dig his own grave before being murdered...execution style.
Soon, new Sheriff Robert Torrez and Undersheriff Estelle Reyes-Guzman are knee deep in the midst of a brutal murder spree that spans both sides of the border.

Poor choice of narrator
Revisado: 03-17-20
I don’t normally write reviews, but I feel pretty strongly about this series tanking because of the narration! I will probably read this book as I could not get past the narrator. These books went from being about New Mexico to sounding like they have a mafia connection. The narrator has also managed to remove the charm and personality from the characters that Mr. Nelson had put in. I realize since it is from a female perspective, they probably wanted to use a female narrator. Perhaps another would be fine… I will not be buying any more books that she narrates in this series.

This narrator did not work for me.
Revisado: 10-25-17
I know it is certainly nothing I could do so hate to criticize, but found this very difficult to listen to. The male voices that she tried to emulate were just downright painful. I think she would be fine they’re writing a novel with mostly female characters. I actually would lose track at times of what was going on in the story because I found myself trying not to listen… Kind of defeats the purpose of an audiobook.
