Historia
One evening in 1951, an itinerant storyteller arrives unannounced at a house in the Irish countryside. In exchange for a bed and a warm meal, he invites his hosts and their neighbors to join him by the wintry fireside and begins to tell formative stories of Ireland's history. Ronan, a nine-year-old boy, grows so entranced by the storytelling that, when the old man leaves abruptly under mysterious circumstances, the boy devotes himself to finding him again.

I have a 50 minute commute. This is a great relaxing and fun read. The author's voice is wonderful and I love the vignettes. If traffic gets a little heavy, or somebody cuts me off, it doesnt seem to be important compared to the wonderful stories' flow. Sometimes I get to work and have to stay in the car a little longer to get to a natural pause in these lively stories.

great listen
Revisado: 01-23-04
It started out a little weird when the living dead starting showing up, but got to be tremendous fun and intrigue. I'm about 75% through with the book and almost look forward to driving 50 minutes to a job that has become dreadful.
Clever and excellent use of the language and moves well.

Historia
The Dupayne, a small private museum in London devoted to the interwar years 1919 - 1939, is in turmoil. As its trustees argue over whether it should be closed, one of them is brutally and mysteriously murdered. Yet even as Commander Dalgliesh and his team proceed with their investigation, a second corpse is discovered. Someone in the Dupayne is prepared to kill and kill again. Still more sinister, the murders appear to echo the notorious crimes of the past featured in one of the museum’s galleries: the Murder Room.

boring
Revisado: 01-14-04
I found the writing tedious, the plot silly, the characters self absorbed. The only fun part of the listen was deciphering British speak.

Why we think it’s a great listen: It’s easy to say that when it comes to sci-fi you either love it or you hate it. But with Ender’s Game, it seems to be you either love it or you love it.... The war with the Buggers has been raging for a hundred years, and the quest for the perfect general has been underway for almost as long. Enter Andrew "Ender" Wiggin, the result of decades of genetic experimentation.

enders game
Revisado: 12-09-03
Man - I am having a great time with audible.com and my OTIS thingy. I have listened to about 10 books so far during commutes and only one was a stinker. Enders Game is wonderful, and I don't really dig Science Fiction much any more. I did as a kid, but now I am really into political intrigue and legal intrigue novels. This book is great and you will enjoy it.

The elderly curator of the Louvre has been murdered inside the museum, his body covered in baffling symbols. I found the plot to be thin. Kept hoping for things to pick up, but all in all a very disappointing book.

Historia
In his electrifying first novel Joe Buff instantly established himself as the ultimate chronicler of 21st-century warfare by taking military fiction and submarine combat to a new level of authenticity, vision, and power. Thunder in the Deep picks up where Deep Sound Channel left off, bringing to life a frightening seascape where technology pushes warriors to new extremes, and warriors push technology to the max. This time the difference between victory and defeat hinges on the two most advanced nuclear attack submarines in the world.

boom boom bang, but no plot
Revisado: 02-06-03
This book was devoid of any notion of a plot. It was just a mix of macho killings, nuclear and tactical and hand to hand. Waste of time - amateurish except perhaps for details of submarine weaponry. But that has been done and done better before.
