Historia
In The Half Has Never Been Told, historian Edward E. Baptist reveals the alarming extent to which slavery shaped our country politically, morally, and most of all, economically. Until the Civil War, our chief form of innovation was slavery. Through forced migration and torture, slave owners extracted continual increases in efficiency from their slaves, giving the country a virtual monopoly on the production of cotton, a key raw material of the Industrial Revolution.

Not just about Slavery, but Slavery to ideas
Revisado: 10-15-18
A excellent book......Full of ideas, stories, and information about America. It is a story of the black man's trail of tears as he fought slavery, fought for freedom, and fought for equality among men. It is also the story of those few that were in power and the political system (Democrats) that worked to keep their power, by keeping the money flowing via the slave labor and the slave market.
It's a very good book. I like the way it was written, and the way the information was laid out.

Historia
By understanding the dramatic story of the Ottoman Empire - from its early years as a collection of raiders and conquerors to its undeniable power in the 15th and 16th centuries to its catastrophic collapse in the wreckage of the First World War - one can better grasp the current complexities of the Middle East. Befitting a story of such epic scope and grandeur, every lecture is a treasure trove of historical insights into the people, events, themes, and locales responsible for shaping the story of this often-overlooked empire.

Tainted tale
Revisado: 08-11-18
"The feel" presented is that Islam and the Ottoman Empire are warm, and pleasant. The Ottoman times were golden and the world peacefully opened their arms to embrace and cooperate with the Empire.
"The facts" presented by historical records, and archeological data provides a darker deadly reality of the blood that was spilled, the lives lost, the information destroyed, and the societies uprooted by the Ottoman Evil.
I had hoped this book would give my historical studies some interesting information. Sadly it only holds endless babbling about lies and images of Ottoman Opulence and grandeur..
I do not suggest this book as a good read, or a good listen.
