Historia
They were a perfect and beautiful family - until a heartbreaking tragedy shattered their happiness. Now, for the sake of an inheritance that will ensure their future, the children must be hidden away out of sight, as if they never existed. They are kept in the attic of their grandmother’s labyrinthine mansion, isolated and alone. As the visits from their seemingly unconcerned mother slowly dwindle, the four children grow ever closer and depend upon one another to survive both this cramped world and their cruel grandmother.

I nice rendition of the book
Revisado: 03-18-25
Got this because I caught the old movie on tv and wanted to give the book a go. Overall, I thought it was pretty good. Seeing as the plot mostly takes place in a couple of rooms, I thought it could get a little boring in some places, even though I liked the overall plot of the story, I liked the narrator a lot. I thought she was really good at acting out Cathy’s frustration and emotion, and I thought she had a pretty good range with the other characters as well.

Awesome

Listened to this after watching the movie. Better than the movie! It was nice to see more depth in all the characters. The narrator was really great too, but I think due to the nature of the story, listening to him narrate some of the characters was unintentionally funny.

Amazing book.
Revisado: 09-11-21
I’ve read a few self-help books now, but this is probably the first one I’ve read that’s immediately useful. James Clear offers both success stories and strategies that can be easily implemented to improve your life through your habits. Anyone who has trouble starting new habits, or breaking old ones, should give this book a shot.

Historia
Discover why Buddhism is such an astonishingly lively and adaptable religion with this series. In just 12 accessible lectures, you'll learn how Buddhism transformed the civilizations of India and much of Asia, and has now become a vital part of Western culture.Buddhism's core philosophy, as you'll learn, is that nothing is permanent-all is change. With this in mind, you'll plunge into an introductory look at this faith. You'll unpack the Buddhist idea that all of life is "suffering" and that there is no permanent self.

A Very Good Introduction; but not a Course.

A Nice Course about the History of Buddhism
Revisado: 11-09-18
I got this audiobook with the expectation that it was going to focus more on the core beliefs of Buddhism and elaborate on how believers perceive it. This book focuses more on the early history of Buddhism, how it has spread throughout Asia, and how it's changed. While it defied my expectations, it was a very good introductory course for theology students or people just interested in Buddhism in general.
The narrator was decent enough. He seemed knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the subject matter, and had some interesting stories about his experiences related to Buddhism. I also think he did a good job at conveying the mindset of Buddhist beliefs to a western audience. However, there were often these long pauses between words and sentences as he spoke, which was distracting and made it kind of difficult to follow what he was saying sometimes. Besides that, I thought he did a pretty good job.

A fun little book made better by Jack Black
Revisado: 08-12-18
I had been interested in the story for a while, and was thrilled to see it on Audible, narrated by Jack Black of all people. I wasn't disappointed. Jack Black made everything fun, and he was a good fit to narrate this story.
The book itself was pretty good. It's written in the form of a journal, and the way the character in the book makes discoveries almost makes it play out like an instruction manual for the game. The author does a great job at giving his characters personality. I felt for this poor guy, fending off zombies and trying to make sense of the confounding world of Minecraft. I felt plot was a bit weak, but if you enjoy playing Minecraft, I think it's a fun little read, and even better if you like Jack Black.
