Historia
When Fate and a chivalrous impulse combine to saddle Viscount Desford with a friendless, homeless waif in the engaging shape of Cherry Steane, who else should he turn to in such a scrape but his childhood playmate, Henrietta Silverdale? And although they refused to oblige their parents by marrying, they have always been the best of friends. But as Desford pursues Cherry's grandfather and father around the seedier fringes of society, Hetta is forced to wonder if he might not, at last, have fallen in love.

Decent story; great reading
Revisado: 04-25-17
The story is entertaining, but what makes it a joy to listen to is Daniel Philpott. I almost forget that it's one person reading every single line of that book. I would listen to him read the newspaper!

Historia
He had nothing to recommend him but his smile, and she was surely too old, and had too much commonsense, to be beguiled by a smile... Miss Abigail Wendover's efforts to detach her spirited niece Fanny from a plausible fortune-hunter are complicated by the arrival in Bath of Miles Caverleigh. The black sheep of his family, a cynical, outrageous care-for-naught with a scandalous past - that would be a connection more shocking even than Fanny's unwise liaison with his nephew!

Smashing good fun!
Revisado: 08-24-14
Would you listen to Black Sheep again? Why?
Absolutely. It was wonderful hearing Barbara Leigh-Hunt narrate. Anyone who's seen AMC's Pride and Prejudice will recognize her as Lady Catherine de Bourgh. I found that I even understood the book more listening to Leigh-Hunt narrate.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Black Sheep?
I don't want to give it away, but at the end, when Mr. Calverly returns to Bath. You suspect you know what he's been up to at this point, and it's wonderful getting that validation.
Have you listened to any of Barbara Leigh-Hunt’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have not.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Immensely satisfying. I laughed for sure.
Any additional comments?
I wish Leigh-Hunt would read more of Heyer's works. It's great fun and a pleasure to listen to.

Historia
Dr. Margo Devaull came to Dominic Zanelli's mountain retreat confident that she could help this Vietnam veteran overcome the torment that kept him apart from the world. But her training as a psychologist had not prepared her for the tragic, explosive contradictions brewing inside him. For here was a sensitive artist who could be gentle - and a man whose eyes flashed with violence and pain when he told her to leave and never come back.

Good story, starts slow, satisfying ending
Revisado: 08-24-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Perhaps. I know, a vague answer, but here's why: the main character seems nagging at times. She's a psychologist trying to push someone into therapy and if she were pushing me, I'd probably deck her. Once the story got past that, though, I found it very enjoyable, although I think we could have come to the ending a bit sooner.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The mother, actually. Good head on her shoulders. Compassionate, a great mom.
Which character – as performed by Rachel Fulginiti – was your favorite?
Betina, the mother. Rachel did a fabulous French accent.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
I'm not sure I can answer that.
Any additional comments?
I have to say that the narrator's voice was a bit annoying at first. It seemed rather dull, but as I got further into the story, I got used to it and it didn't bother me any more.
