I loved every little detail about this story, and the audio production kicks it up a notch. I cannot recommend this audiobook enough.

I really enjoyed this book, and even though the first half is slowly paced I was never bored.

Once Kliewer punches the accelerator this story rockets to its inevitable conclusion while you’re making connections like one of those nut jobs with their conspiracy boards. And maybe, just maybe, they’re not nut jobs.

Chizmar continues to build his skills as an author delivering a propulsive and creepy folk/cosmic horror tale.

Loved that this never felt slow and the narrators really upped the story.

Great story that truly is frightening at times. Stellar narration that elevates the tension and fear.

This almost feels like two books in one. Without giving too much away, the first entry is the folk horror coming to the city.

The second part is the folk horror’s return to the countryside.

The first part is very tense and well written. The second part is a bit looser and seems more focused and wrapping up and explaining things.

Colon has crafted a tightly paced bug and gentrification horror novel that’ll get under your skin after it gets in your ears.

Osorio does a stellar job of narrating this novel, with each character having a clear and distinct voice, just beautiful work.

This is a swell collection of meta novellas telling an overarching story as well as speaking to how each person can take away something different from a narrative as well as how the way in which we frame to story of our life drives the direction of it.

I recently listened to SGJ’s interview with Talking Scared Pod EP 54, Stephen Graham Jones and Dancing With the Slasher, and he mentioned that originally Demon Theory was loaded with footnoted miscellany, but he pulled it after House of Leaves dropped and he felt it was (or could be) perceived as jumping on a trend. I would read the heck out of a footnoted version of this book.

What a book! Brutal and beautiful and true to its story until the very last word.

The narration was excellent and kept me immersed in the story from start to finish.

Eileen Steven’s does a wonderful job of narrating Clarke’s second installment.

Clarke’s characters are so clearly drawn with the exception of perhaps the Chantrys, the the dialogue sizzles. I love these characters.

SA Cosby’s first novel is rough, but you can see the diamond forming

If I had read this book before Blacktop Wasteland and Razorblade Tears, I’d have given it higher marks.

As Cosby notes in his intro, he hadn’t yet become a master of his craft yet, but there are times when you can see the glimmers of what he can do with words.

Unlike his other novels, this suffers from some pacing issues, and a bit of hand waving ‘solutions’ to corners he wrote Nate into.

All that said, this was still a very enjoyable read and I can recommend it to fans of hard boiled stories.
