Fool Me
Revisado: 07-22-14
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I prefer books with credible endings.
Have you listened to any of Joe Barrett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
The narration is very satisfying.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
I was disappointed. I returned book 1 because it had no ending what-so-ever and attempted this one, book two, because of the overwhelming positive reviews. That was where i was fooled twice. No credible ending. I am done with this series.

Historia
For seven-year-old Raami, the shattering end of childhood begins with the footsteps of her father returning home in the early dawn hours bringing details of the civil war that has overwhelmed the streets of Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s capital. Soon the family’s world of carefully guarded royal privilege is swept up in the chaos of revolution and forced exodus. Over the next four years, as she endures the deaths of family members, starvation, and brutal forced labor, Raami clings to the only remaining vestige of childhood - the mythical legends and poems told to her by her father.

Fell short of five stars
Revisado: 09-13-12
Where does In the Shadow of the Banyan rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
All the good things written about this book have great substance. My slight disappointment was only in the fact that there was room to show and tell much, much more depth of the atrocities and horror perpetrated by the Khmer Rouge.

Spenser has gone to London -- and not to see the Queen. He's gone to track down a bunch of bombers who've blown away his client's wife and kids. His job is to catch them. Or kill them. His client isn't choosy. But there are nine killers to one Spenser -- long odds. Hawk helps balance the equation. The rest depends on a wild plan. Spenser will get one of the terrorists to play Judas Goat -- to lead him to others.

Entertaining
Revisado: 03-12-12
Spenser novels are not great literature, but they can be entertaining. I've always enjoyed narration by Michael Prichard and for me, there is a comfort in hearing his familiar voice.

Quite a disappointment in that this book didn't even come close to the level of THE HUMMINGBIRD'S DAUGHTER, neither in content or quality of writing.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Seabiscuit was a runaway success, and Hillenbrand’s done it again with another true-life account about beating unbelievable odds. On a May afternoon in 1943, an Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean and disappeared, leaving only a spray of debris and a slick of oil, gasoline, and blood. Then, on the ocean surface, a face appeared....

Terrific Story Teller
Revisado: 12-19-11
Laura Hillenbrand is one great story teller. This rates as one of the best all around books that I have ever read. To those who thought the ending was too good to be true, this was a NON-Fiction book. This stuff really happened

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Not What I Expected
Revisado: 12-02-11
While I enjoyed this book, I expected more in respect to the "Time Travel" aspect of it. It's my high expectations that caused me to give it 3 stars rather than 4.

Don't Waste Your Time
Revisado: 01-07-10
This book proves the case that some reads are far better abridged, than unabridged. This one needs to be SUPER-abridged. Repetitious, boring, tedious, rambling and, did I mention, repetitious and rambling? In the end, too many unanswered questions to situations mentioned over and over in the book, but never explained. Also, time travel can be a tricky thing, but at the very end of the book, the use of a “locator” has to be the icing on the cake. They didn’t have satellites back in 1348 to my knowledge. Two stars would be too generous.
