Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Authentic and comedic - Star of Fame
Revisado: 03-12-24
M.M. gives a delightful, humorous, and authentic view into his life, and upbringing. Now, a member of the Hollywood elite but he doesn’t appear to have deterred in knowing where he came from, his roots, and the privilege he now holds. Hearing about his experiences in both professional and personal life make me that much more of a fan. He also shamelessly adores his wife, and that is refreshing to hear today.
To hear his story narrated by himself added so much more.

Historia
When Stephanie Land set out to write her memoir Maid, she never could have imagined what was to come. Handpicked by President Barack Obama as one of the best books of 2019, he called it an “unflinching look at America’s class divide…and a reminder of the dignity of all work.” Later, it was adapted into the hit Netflix series Maid, which was viewed by sixty-seven million households and was Netflix’s fourth most-watched show in 2021, garnering three Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Stephanie’s escape out of poverty and abuse in search of a better life inspired millions.

Nothing short of extraordinary.
Revisado: 12-11-23
On par with Maid, the author gives readers an authentic insight into subjects that aren’t discussed enough, or pushed aside by those ignorant to live selfishly inside themselves. The great bravery, vulnerability, and willingness to share of the author is something to be admired. I am blessed to have been able to listen to another part of her life story. I look forward to her continued success.

Historia
"My name is 'J' and I'm awkward--and Black. Someone once told me those were the two worst things anyone could be. That someone was right. Where do I start?" Being an introvert in a world that glorifies cool isn't easy. But when Issa Rae, the creator of the Shorty Award-winning hit series The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, is that introvert--whether she's navigating love, work, friendships, or rapping--it sure is entertaining.

Relatable and authentic!
Revisado: 09-22-21
I love Issa Rae. Love.
This memoir of her adventures and experiences from childhood to early adulthood are relatable for a someone who grew up in the same era. I too am saddened that some of our current generation has no idea who the great Michael Jackson was.
Recounting the fashion, saddened/triggered by the bullying, excitement for her acceptance of self… I enjoyed every bit of this book and was sad when it had to come to an end. Sequel?
Thank you Issa for letting us in to your life. You are so real. I am looking forward to watching your journey. I know that you will be blessed with continued success.
