Well-researched and well-written. The narration is gritty which fits perfectly. From the title, I anticipated a book that might reveal an honest side of Trump, but I got an honest look at his corruption. Worth the read.

Great story, perfect narrator. The title caught my attention right away, especially since I tend to watch a lot of true crime shows. The details of what happens to a body in a mortuary were interesting; the details of trying to figure out what makes a serial killer were also great. The story unfolded in a natural way with realistic characters, especially the teen protagonist. Just found out there is a second book and I’m excited to get it.

I had not heard of this man prior to listening to this book. Thankfully I had an hours long road trip and was able to hear the story in just two sessions. Wow! Amazing!

Interesting read—two stories, two law enforcement officers, different areas of the US. Bringing the two parts together was done in a believable and natural way.

I listened to the audio book. Thankfully, this was a relatively short book—8 hours, I think. Thankfully because the narration was horrendous. I almost gave up but I like LJ Sellers books and managed to get to the end without losing my cool. The narrator did keep his various voices distinct and consistent and he read with enthusiasm. But almost every character came off sounding corny and worse. I enjoy audio books but I think I’ll stick to print copies for LJ Sellers in the future.

One question: What is the black pill? Did I miss something?

Book 2 of the Bill Hodges trilogy is an excellent continuation of Mr. Mercedes. Typical fine details by King are rich and sometimes uncomfortable, even squeamish, but always effective. And I love how he drops little references to his other books here and there throughout his stories. I listened to this book an Audible—Will Patten is the best narrator I have ever experienced. He rarely, possibly never, breaks character. This is a feat because King has a lot of people in his books. Patten brings it all to life as well as, or better than, any movie adaptation. I’m on to the final book in the series now—can’t wait!

Ms McQuerry tells two stories of teenage girls living in different eras. She does a remarkable job of keeping their voices distinct as the two lives slowly intertwine. I felt part of their worlds, as if I were walking alongside them. Beautifully told. The narration was perfect.

The stories about the families sadly affected by the vile actions of Georgia Tann who procured children for the Tennessee Children’s Home Society. Very interesting to “meet” those people and learn how they found each other long after the fact. Good follow up to the novel Before We Were Yoirs.

This was hard to put down, especially as it progressed more and more into the “cult” of FOX and Trump. I was surprised at the real connection between the two and shocked that this really happened. Honest revelations here.

I listened to this through Audible. I should have checked the sample before buying it. The author, Lawrence Block, has written a very compelling and complex story. The tie-in to the terrorist attack on 9/11 is a great catalyst for the actions of the antagonist, and quite believable. In fact, all the characters are realistic and interesting. There is a sexual encounter that feels gratuitous which is why I gave the story only 4 stars. My low rating is for the audio version. Lawrence Block is clearly no actor. He reads in a monotone, no differences in character voices, and the sex scenes are therefore dull and comical. The author, and in particular this book, was recommended to me and is my introduction to Block's work. I will definitely check out some other titles, but will skip the audio if he is the narrator.

Michael Connelly has given us another Jack MacAvoy adventure and it is quite a ride. Several unexpected turns kept me reading into the night. Research was a huge factor in the book since the “problem” has to do with genetics, DNA and ancestry discoveries. Some of it slowed down the book for me, but it was interesting to learn about. I gave 4 stars because there are too many tired cliches. The narrator was good, but sometimes he sounded more belligerent than necessary. Just my take. I will definitely read more from this author.
