Revisado: 09-25-23
I am disappointed that CJ used rape as the mystery to solve. The maid is not just attacked or assaulted. She was raped and fearful of pregnancy. I will be returning this book.

I don't usually like mysteries, but this one is different. I love books about books and libraries. This series also has some nice splashes of magic and a dash of romance.

Historia
Angels of the Appalachians is a fresh and endearing tale, filled with folksy phrases and amusing adages of the South. It's the story of two women who meet in 1980, gray-haired Erma telling her life story to Annie, a young college student living in Charleston, West Virginia. The tale she tells is also of two women, and their adventures beginning in the coalfields of Red Ash, growing up near Thurmond, and eventually finding their way to Charleston in 1915.

Historia
At the height of World War II, Oak Ridge, Tennessee, was home to 75,000 residents, consuming more electricity than New York City. But to most of the world, the town did not exist. Thousands of civilians - many of them young women from small towns across the South - were recruited to this secret city, enticed by solid wages and the promise of war-ending work. Kept very much in the dark, few would ever guess the true nature of the tasks they performed each day in the hulking factories in the middle of the Appalachian Mountains.

Good history
Revisado: 03-14-23
This is a great read for people that are the children or grandchildren of these incredible people.
The book looks into the lives of the people behind the fence. There is alot of nuclear talk but that's what the book is about.
The narrator does an excellent job keeping the listener engaged. This is how history should be taught.
I recently visited Oakridge. The city is beautiful. I imagined the people living behind the fence and enormity the city would have had to have been. It's a beautiful city with living history. There is so much history to been seen. Plan a day or two.

The North Yorkshire moors are always a magical place, but they’re particularly enchanting at the holidays... especially if one gets to travel back in time to a Victorian Christmas. For Bronwyn Dale, it is the stuff of dreams. Fancy dress balls, quirky small-town traditions, even that classic one-horse open sleigh, complete with jingle bells.

So happy I discovered this series. The characters are what every women looks for. And just enough sex to not be vulgar.
The time stitch is enough fiction to keep you wanting to listen. PS. listen to this novela before moving to the second book.
