Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a well-tested collection of practical techniques for managing moods and modifying undesirable behaviors through self-awareness, critical analysis, and goal-oriented change. CBT illuminates the links between thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and physical health and uses those connections to develop concrete plans for self-improvement. In 24 engaging half-hour lectures, you'll build a robust and effective self-improvement toolkit with the expert guidance of Professor Satterfield of the University of California, San Francisco.

Not so good!

The CBT for Dummies is, in my opinion, much better than this one. It has much clearer concepts.

Historia
Without even realizing it, we all use the fruits of political philosophy. From liberty to democracy to community, the terms and concepts originated by political philosophers are ingrained in our global consciousness. Yet many of us have an incomplete picture of how these ideas developed and, quite possibly, a skewed perception of their intentions and implications. This highly relevant course sheds light on the labyrinth of Western political and social theory, as well as its influence on modern history.

Excellent
Revisado: 06-22-23
It is very interesting to learn how it is people’s thinking what structures and originates the laws and values that we now consider “normal”. It is of capital importance to realize that one way of thinking is not right and the other wrong, but that we should be able to chose between what we consider to be the best for the majority, for everyone or for ourselves. Of course, there are thoughts that favor some people more and other people less, but we have the right to choose the view that is better suited for our own benefit, and for that of the majority in a democratic society.
Moreover, this audiobook teaches us that we also have to be careful with what is called the tyranny of the majority, and pay attention in a more rational way to the wider reality and not only to the words of the politicians we may like or dislike, or to the basis or unique ideology of what we have been thought to believe is right.
Truth is liberating, and this audiobook helps to understand the political reality of our countries; where we are, and where we want to go.

Historia

Same physical feelings?
Revisado: 03-27-23
The idea that the same physical feelings are experienced when anxious or excited is far from precise. At least I don't remember feeling a bad vacuum in my stomach when being excited.
Can these Oxford examples square with the definition of dread in the audiobook?
1. "The prospect of growing old fills me with dread." Can the person speed up becoming older for the dread of it?
2. "She has an irrational dread of hospitals." This sounds as if she does never go to hospitals as a result of her dread.

Historia
Hardly a day goes by that we don’t hear about someone committing a violent, reprehensible, even evil, act. And each time it happens, before we know anything about the circumstances, we are already sure of one thing: We are nothing like that perpetrator. But how can we be so sure? After all, we are all human. In Understanding the Dark Side of Human Nature, Professor Daniel Breyer takes us on a fascinating philosophical journey into many of the deepest and darkest questions that have engaged humanity for millennia.

Excellent book
Revisado: 07-07-21
This is one of the best books I have ever heard or read, maybe the best. I honestly advice anyone interested in any one "thing" such as general culture or knowledge, economics, politics, poverty and affluence, the reasons why some people get rich and others don’t, inequality, discrimination, etc. I wish I had found a book like this one many years ago. I honestly love it.
