One of the most original books I’ve EVER enjoyed!

I relished every twist and turn, the special “voices” of the characters and the warm “humanity” of the non-humans. Andy’s final cadence completes the experience with a crystal-clear peal of hope.

I did NOT expect to love this book about a curmudgeonly, older middle aged man. But, the beauty of the writing, this careful precision and love with which the recording was made changed my mind entirely. A beautiful message that, even towards the twilight of ones life, one can still be open to developing loving relationships with those around you, no matter what came before. Highly recommended!

Even for someone who is rather organized, this book provides several super helpful suggestions. Get it and read it!

A poetic elegy to the interrelated beauty of relationships: the human, the quantitative, the heart and the sport. Both precise and artistic, this book had a perfect story arc from beginning to end. A must-read.

Strong pairing between the narration style and the content. The author did a masterful job of bringing to light the world within a world concept.

Would you listen to The Orphan Master's Son again? Why?

I would not listen to this book again, because the characters' names were too confusing in listening format. It would have been less problematic visually, I think.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The most interesting part of this book was the verisimilitude to current affairs. The horrific storyline was more than credible, knowing what we hear in the news about North Korea at present.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

The performer was masterful at creating the cadence and enunciation of Korean speech, and equally adept at both female and male voices.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The story was SO painful, I had a hard time actually finishing this book.

Any additional comments?

Brilliant reading!
