Love or business
Revisado: 11-26-24
The narration was superb! In fact it's probably the reason I finished listening when I had wanted to quit. I ended up getting into the story about 1/3 way thru. Didn't mind the music but I just didn't understand why it ended how it did. I see that everybody else seemed delighted with the end and maybe I'll have to give it a run through to see if I can understand. Just wasn't my cup of tea.

original story line
Revisado: 07-26-24
The narrator was superb! She used just enough inflection in her voice, not too over done. The story itself was so very full of interesting back and forths, keeping me intrigued until the very tearful ending. No book had ever sparked such emotion in me, where I realized I was crying when the tears ran down my face. I highly recommend!!

Cocky narrator
Revisado: 07-22-24
Narrator sounds cocky and arroggant right from the very beginning. So much so, that before the 3rd chapter when he suggested I quit listening, I did just that... quit listening and removed this title.

WTF?
Revisado: 06-08-24
The ending left me disappointed and confused. Hard to follow and feel like I missed the whole point... but do not care to listen to again. Glad it was free. Narrator was mediocre... not horrible, nothing special either.

Historia
Twenty years ago, five teenage campers disappeared. Two eventually turned up, bound and left for dead on the Columbia River’s rocky shore. Only Devin Bonner miraculously survived, but with no memories of what happened in the Oregon forest. After decades, the cold case generates heat for FBI Special Agent Mercy Kilpatrick and her husband, Police Chief Truman Daly. They’re investigating the murder of a true-crime podcaster found at the river’s edge in the same location, and with the exact same manner of death.

Favorite so far
Revisado: 05-27-24
While I've enjoyed all of the series so far, this is by far my favorite. The characters were real, the story line was unique and original. I thought the male narrator was a little weak, but overall easy to listen to. I did not expect what came at the very ending... the last few minutes really sealed it for me! I strongly recommend this one!

Nice for a quick, easy listen. Narration was nothing spectacular, but wasn't annoying either. Just very low key.

Superb narration! Each character was easily defined. This, along with such a delightful story line, made this an easy and totally enjoyable experience... much like a roller coaster, lol! I loved it and highly recommend it if you need to get away from reality for awhile.😉

Historia
Two weeks of rest and recuperation - that's what the doctor ordered. Detective Sergeant DC Smith could listen to some music, make some of his own, and maybe even catch up on his reading; he is almost looking forward to it. And then there is a knock on the door. It's only his next-door neighbor, but it is the beginning of a sequence of events that will bring him face to face with some of the darkest episodes and the most dangerous people from his own past.

Narrator saves the day!
Revisado: 01-27-24
Had it not been for the narration, I'm not sure I would have wanted to read/listen to this. It's a pretty good story line but Grainger goes on so long that I get lost. I have to go back several times and re-listen, to bring my mind back from wandering. I have found this with most of the books in this series. I'm always pleasantly surprised with the dry humor that pops up here and there and how the narrator always delivers it in the same way, without missing a beat! Like I say, the narrator saved this for me. I'll read/listen to the next in this series, only to see if certain things are addressed and explained, as the end was a mystery to me. Actually, pretty much the whole book. Like I say, it seems he just rambled on before getting to the point... if he actually did. He tried explaining without actually saying anything but hints at, as if we should 'get it', maybe because it seems obvious to him (Grainger). Unless you're already deep into reading this series, I wouldn't recommend.

Glad it's over
Revisado: 08-31-23
Narrator's whiny, desperate tone made this a difficult listen, for me. If I weren't so obsessed with finishing all that I start, I would have given up listening after the 4th or 5th chapter. Like I said, narration made it difficult to concentrate on the story line. . . would not recommend this one.

The end, what??
Revisado: 08-30-23
I thought it was a great and exhilarating listen... enjoyed the whole book, and then, the end!? I just thought the end came suddenly, abruptly and then just... well, fizzled. Maybe being native of western Washington, I feel biased about Bigfoot, lol! Still, worth the listen. Narration was excellent! I would recommend, it being on the free list.
