Historia
Quinn Alexander has committed an unthinkable crime. To avoid spending her life in prison, Quinn makes a run for it. She leaves behind her home, her job, and her family. She grabs her passport and heads for the northern border before the police can discover what she's done. But when an unexpected snowstorm forces her off the road, Quinn must take refuge at the broken-down, isolated Baxter Motel. The handsome and kindly owner, Nick Baxter, is only too happy to offer her a cheap room for the night. Unfortunately, the Baxter Motel isn't the quiet safe haven it seemed to be.

Yes, twists.... yes surprises, and also some life lessons thrown in if you learn anything from the characters faults. This is my first book by this author and it certainly won't be my last!

Great narrator
Revisado: 04-04-25
Listeners should be aware that the narration is done in the third person… Meaning that she is essentially reading the story. While she does an excellent job of the different character voices and things she keeps saying Laura said who is the main character in the book instead of I said which really bothers me I wish they would change it because then it seems like they're just reading the book instead of immersing you in the actual story the narrator should become the voice of the main character so therefore every Laura said should be I said… I hope that makes sense. Also her aunt is only 50 something you made her sound like she was like 80 or something!!

Historia
Ever since Thanksgiving, when an engagement ring in a velvet box—and no gift tag—was left behind, Poppy and her pals have been left with an unsolved mystery. But at least this mystery isn't the kind that involves murder. That all changes when the body of a fish supplier is discovered in the kitchen of her ex's restaurant—and he's frozen, not fresh. For once, it's not Poppy who tripped over the corpse, yet she can't escape being drawn in since the victim has a note taped to him reading Get Poppy. Figures—an engagement ring isn't labeled, but the dead guy is addressed to her.

Too over the top
Revisado: 03-08-25
Her aunt is ridiculous the way her character was written and way over the top with her shenanigans they got to the point when they were searching for her everywhere and then her ridiculousness under house arrest I just had to skip over that part because it was so ridiculously well over the top it was entertaining overall as a read or listen

Not believable
Revisado: 03-04-25
The main character cat, seems like a real ditz… It's hardly believable that she is an accomplished businesswoman worth millions! When a benefactor covers the initial cost of her legal she doesn't bother to find out who it is… She seems like a total kid right out of college just don't buy it don't like it will not continue with the story

Average story. Bad READER and I do mean reader
Revisado: 02-17-25
The story was OK, I didn't like how the mother kept calling her daughter darling sometimes several times in one sentence it just seemed redundant... who calls a daughter darling.
The narrator/reader was not good unfortunately there are no different voices she is not providing anything to the story as a matter of fact she detects from it . Essentially this could've been done by a virtual reader which I am poor but she uses no different character tones nothing... she just read the book

Historia
James Henry, a kind-hearted professor of English literature, is forced to move back home to Quincy's Gap, a tiny town in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, to care for his aging father. Shortly after moving into a house that hasn't changed since his childhood, the overweight, divorced, book-loving cheese puff addict accepts a position as head librarian and joins a supper club for dieters who call themselves the "Flab Five". Avoiding carbs is almost impossible in this deep-fried, all-you-can-eat Southern town.

NOT KETO!!
Revisado: 01-19-25
OK the problem I have is that this author didn't seem to do any research because when they are going through what they can eat and can't eat a lot of the things on the list are free this and reduced that and that is not! You would think she would do her research a little bit more
Carefully... still listening but don't take what she says as dieting advice

Why
Revisado: 12-30-24
This has a lot of weaknesses to it, one being that the main character is constantly battered, and multiple attempts to murder her using weird circumstances… If someone really wanted someone dead that badly they should've just shot the person it's ridiculous how many scenarios present themselves one after another
Will probably not listen to more

Stories are getting more outlandish as the series goes on
Revisado: 12-11-24
And in continuance of my title she is getting more stupid ! How can she be so smart to solve crimes, but then blabber on like an idiot one question about her boyfriend's whereabouts etc. What I'm saying is a series is very inconsistent and she goes from an intelligent woman to a stupid woman in 10 seconds flat or less no consistency of character. Don't know if I'll finish the series because it gets worse and worse.
The narrator is fabulous and does a super job
