Hayden's ability to quickly create a setting, adeptly establish a mood, and start into the action shine in this short story. Even within the constraints of the trope she manages to drop cookies foreshadowing future events and makes setting up scenes, actions, and character development that much more effective. Yes, our main character grows within this 16-minute gem.

Can't say much about Sierra's performance other than admitting that her rich, emotive, and expressive contralto voice is employed perfectly in this narration.

I received an audio review copy of this audiobook from the author and am voluntarily submitting this honest review.

This is the biggest ratings spread I've ever given to an audio book. Jacq's narration is just about flawless; no room for improvement in what I heard. There's a decent plot, but I don't understand why Astri has to be presented as an easily-bullied complaining doormat throughout the story. Nor why Jorgen seems to vacillate between being a villain and trying to become a good guy. Jacq's narration wasn't why I got to the point of not caring about what happens to the main characters.

I don't like to beat someone up blindly, but it seems to me that the editor of the e-book didn't actually earn their compensation. And that may be why the line editor/proofreader lost interest by about half way through the novel.

I'm not going to write Joanna off for any future novels, but I will look very carefully at Kindle reviews before shelling out for a commute-time audio book based on her work.

Our heroin, Etti, is a live at home Native American tattoo artist at her shop, which caters to shifters. One night, in her shop, she meets Grey, who is a member of The Hunt, which is charged with revenge against humans for ancient wrongs.
I won't spoil the story with further details. But I am guessing that you read the blurb, so you know all of the above details.
There are twists and turns, betrayals and lovemaking, violence and abandonment, secrets and trials through the story. The steam level is fairly high with some variety in the encounters, which are free of kink. There is a good helping of necessary and justified character development as the delicious plot unfolds. I loved the way the story elements were woven together.

This is the first novel in a series, and I enjoyed trying to recognize foreshadowing for subsequent stories. It's probably not even a minor spoiler to mention that there's unresolved issues at the end of the volume, leaving a "cliff hanger" feeling, even though there is a kind of happy-for-now denouement.

There were bothersome changes in the voicing of the characters at some of the chapter breaks. It felt to me like there may have been multiple recording sessions spread over a long enough period that the characterizations were not fresh in the narrator's mind after the breaks between sessions. This takes a bit away from the listener's sense of continuity, but the overasll performance was still great, as far as I am concerned.

I heartily recommend this listen.

Addy and Owen Are working on a project, with Owen an experienced outside consultant who like to keep business and pleasure apart. Young Addy has been crushing on Owen and fantasizing about him since they first met in person. To celebrate the completion of their project the team goes out for drinks. OK, the story is short and steamy; whadda you think happens? Yep. But Addy is too drunk to accomplish the anticipated events. She passes out.
When she returns to the conscious world, Owen is no where to be found and he didn't leave any contact information. If they are going to continue the story, Owen will have to give into his internal cravings and find Addy. But when he returns to where they met, she's not there. Another location challenge stands between our heroes.
No more almost-spoilers for first-time exposure to steamy romance listeners. Good job Adele! The book's largest fault for me is that it's way too short. These truly likable (even if you occasionally want to reach into the speaker to knock them up beside the head) characters deserve much more stage time with each other. It's almost like a waste of great character development.
Randi is arguably (no arguments from me) the best male narrator working in the Romance genres at this time. His vocal interpretations and tone of voice are always right on, and seem to me to convey his author's intentions admirably.

This listen might be short, but it is still vary enjoyable. Highly recommended from my corner of the planet.
