Historia
It's the last race of the season, the wheels are smoking, and the temperature is rising at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Alexandra Barnaby is NASCAR-driver Sam Hooker's raceday spotter, his eye-in-the-sky, telling Hooker when to pass and when to let off the gas. From her vantage point high above the grandstand, she's also seeing goings-on in the infield that will change her life.

Not exactly a Plum...
Revisado: 10-11-06
A long long series of events leading to a cute but usual ending. Seems the Evanovich books that are not part of the Stephanie Plum series are just carved out methodically and lack any real lustre. Have always been disappointed by books that aren't real Plums.

Revisado: 01-22-06
This latest in the Munch Mancini series (I wish Audible would get the previous books) is what Kinsey Milhone used to be -- but with "more LA and less Santa Barbara" in the action.
All books in this series are entertaining and well-written, but this narration is especially good. You will enjoy the other characters because of the narration-even some of the bad guys!

Historia
Nicholas's father grew up in Brooklyn, but you'd hardly know it. An Italian dinner at Nicholas's house in the suburbs is whole wheat pasta, organic tomato sauce, and, if he's lucky, a tofu meatball. And Brooklyn? Well, Brooklyn is the place his father left and never talks about. Nicholas has never been there, and he doesn't want to go now.

Just Great ~ Enjoyable for all Ages !
Revisado: 10-25-05
I wish this book was also offered in the adult section, as it is fun for all ages! Kudos to the narrator who absolutely brings this to life: you can smell the marinara sauce cooking! The storyline is great; the authors bring you all the color and character of the neighborhood and those who live there --again, you feel like you know them and might bump into them on the street.
Whether you are more like Nicky and his father, or like Uncle Frankie or the goombas, you can relate to this warm, quickly-paced narrative that is also thought-provoking and nostalgic....and no, you don't have to be Italian to enjoy ~ I'm a grown woman from Missouri via Hawaii. Loved it!

Historia
Haller is a Lincoln Lawyer, a criminal defense pro who operates out of the backseat of his Lincoln Town Car, to defend clients at the bottom of the legal food chain. It's no wonder that he is despised by cops, prosecutors, and even some of his own clients. But an investigator is murdered for getting too close to the truth and Haller quickly discovers that his search for innocence has taken him face to face with a kind of evil as pure as a flame.

He's Done It Again!
Revisado: 10-07-05
Michael Connelly is a darn good writer who shines in this genre. This is not a Harry Bosch story, but new protagonist Micky Haller is not as dark or flawed as Bosch, and seems to have given Connelly a new enthusiasm for writing. This is better crafted than many of the author's recent works and though more free-wheeling, is sophisticated and tight-- as 'concrete' as ever. Bravo! Great Audio!

Lily Ellsworth, erect, firm, white-haired, and stylish, is the grand dame of Dowling, Massachusetts, and possesses an iron will and a bottomless purse. When she hires Spenser to investigate her grandson Jared Clark's alleged involvement in a school shooting, Spenser is led into an inquiry that grows more harrowing at every turn. Though seven people were killed in cold blood, and despite Jared's being named as a co-conspirator by the other shooter, Mrs. Ellsworth is convinced of her grandson's innocence.

Rolls Along Nicely ...
Revisado: 10-05-05
This is a typical Spencer adventure with fewer--thank goodness-- "I said"/"she said"s. Parker has offered a storyline that amalgamates 3 top news stories of the last several years, and it is evident what the author's opinions are regarding these themes, but this does not detract from an offering that rolls along nicely.
The fact that Susan and Hawk are not in the thick of things also does not detract, and although not spectacular, this narrative is much more fluent than some of his recent books. Enjoyable.

Both previous listener reviews are dead on : this is a treat to listen to, as both the music and the writing are very high-quality!
The descriptive narrative is superb and I wonder where the author or audio programmers got the music (?) Listening to this was like seeing a night flower unfold...

Excellent , Fun and Surprisingly Touching ...
Revisado: 09-26-05
This is a well-written, hip narrative read by a perfect-for-the-part narrator. I read tons of crime/mystery and this one is entertaining, surprising, and a darn good story! The title is unfortunate in that it is so trite, but don't let this mislead you. A satisfying and enjoyable selection, like a good TV movie...

Big Fun!
Revisado: 08-30-05
Well-done Abridgement and great first-person narration. This is a contemporary, very human cast of characters and a delightful romp.
You will also enjoy "Sudden Death," the next book in the series.
Wish Audible would offer up the first two books in this author's
4 book (so far) feature of this nonheroic hero!

Revisado: 08-30-05
Another fun contemporary mystery from David Rosenfelt. G.G. is perfect as the first-person narrator, and you will also enjoy Rosenfelt's "Bury the Lead" which preceeds this book in the series.
Like others who have enjoyed these, I wish Audible would offer
his two other books and would present them Unabridged.
Still...delightful!

Lasher gets better and better ...
Revisado: 05-09-05
Very Entertaining! The narrator is superb and makes this a better book to listen to than to read. He truly "becomes" the main character, and his narrative skill makes this almost like a radio /theatre presentation.Don't be afraid of the fact that this is Abridged: you will never know. This author is a very good writer whose writing has gotten better and even more lyrical ... you will enjoy this audio book with it's layers of strong plot, great assortment of characters, and hip but not grating black humor.
