Historia
Under the cover of night, 12-year-old Homer flees Southerland Plantation with his little sister Ada, unwillingly leaving their beloved mother behind. Much as he adores her and fears for her life, Homer knows there’s no turning back, not with the overseer on their trail. Through tangled vines, secret doorways, and over a sky bridge, the two find a secret community called Freewater, deep in the swamp.

Beautiful. Truly exceptional.
Revisado: 02-10-25
An unbelievably captivating and powerful story, shedding light on very little known histories and communities, and exquisitely read by the voice performers. Such a gift to the public by an incredibly gifted author.

Historia
Nobody needs telling there isn’t enough time. We’re obsessed with our lengthening to-do lists, our overfilled inboxes, work-life balance, and the ceaseless battle against distraction; and we’re deluged with advice on becoming more productive and efficient, and “life hacks” to optimize our days. But such techniques often end up making things worse. The sense of anxious hurry grows more intense, and still the most meaningful parts of life seem to lie just beyond the horizon.

Revisado: 12-04-22
This is a very helpful approach to time management and productivity; I especially appreciate how it draws on such wide ranging sources, including various faith traditions. Glad I read it (nearly three times now).

Historia
When the rallying cry “Black Lives Matter” was heard across the world in 2013, Andre Henry was one of the millions for whom the movement caused a political awakening and a rupture in some of his closest relationships with White people. As he began using his artistic gifts to share his experiences and perspective, Henry was aggrieved to discover that many White Americans - people he called friends and family - were more interested in debating whether racism existed or whether Henry was being polite enough in the way he used his voice.

Content is sooo helpful and hopeful!
Revisado: 06-21-17
This book is great and I'm so glad I read it all. At the beginning, the authors' rather flat reading tone almost discouraged me but, once I learned to listen through that and some of the rather technical details which sometimes felt dry, I came to really love it. I literally was stopping to add clips and make notes at 5 minutes intervals, by the end. Thanks for a very helpful & healing book. I'm sure I'll return to it many times as my kids get older and different parts of my self and past start to reveal themselves. So glad I have all the exercises you provided to return to at appropriate intervals!
