A Feel Good Story with a Happy Ending

This was definitely the type of feel good story I was looking for to pass the time. It checked all the boxes except for one. The slow whine of the narrator’s voice was almost unbearable at times. I had to speed it up to make him easier to listen to. Instead of wishing the story would last longer, I couldn’t wait to get to the end … which did not disappoint. Overall I’d recommend reading, not listening.

It’s everything I needed it to be and more. Loved the behind the scenes look at the entire series almost as much as I enjoyed recounts of the very special friendship between Angela and Jenna. I’ll check out the podcast for sure!

Couldn’t even finish.

I got nine hours in and couldn’t even finish this one. Such a tremendous disappointment. I wanted to love it and hoped the characters would continue to develop but they, nor the storyline ever did.

Girl … Don’t Waste Your Time

As a long islander who spends a good amount of time in Port Jeff, I wanted to get lost in this story, truly I did. But the character development was simplistic and their personalities were one dimensional and immature, making the entire first book seem wholly unrealistic for me. I’m not continuing on to books 2 and 3 for that reason.

Narration was fine, she did what she could with what she was given. Overall a positive performance.

Another win for Lauren Weisberger. This book was extremely well written … the main characters were admirable, strong, and relatable, and not a detail was left unexplained. Lauren tied the ending together beautifully, making perfect sense of the few parts I (thought I) disliked earlier on. The narrator was a pleasure to listen to and seemed to fit the characters well.

Really well rounded characters with well written interpersonal relationships I was certainly invested in throughout the majority of the book. As always the narrators were perfectly paired and their performances were on target.

A few hours too long …

I gave it everything I had but just couldn’t enjoy this book bc the premise was so thin and difficult to believe in. Too many locations to keep track of, it was difficult to remember who was in which country at what time! I hung in until the very predictable end, though by the time I arrived there, didn’t even care what happened to any of the characters.

The narration was great and is actually what made One Day in December bearable. Still I’d save the credit!
