Historia
All Genviève Mirabelle wanted was her mother's belongings and a place for herself, out from under the watchful eyes of her step-brothers. The Trent Brothers, specifically. Since coming into her life they have had very definite plans for her future, despite her objections. There is only one thing keeping her from seeking her freedom: her mother's missing shipment. Once found, she can live as she wishes, without a gentleman telling her what to do.

A Very Enjoyable Narration
Revisado: 12-14-15
3 star story, 4 star narration
This was a very enjoyable audiobook. It is part of a series but my enjoyment wasn't hampered even though I haven't read the other books in the series. This is a regency historical romance, taking place at a time when men were either gentlemen or rakes, and reputation was simply everything.
I don't think there is anything particularly astounding about this romance. It has an independent and clever young woman as the main character, Genevieve, who doesn't feel the need for protection from her newly discovered half brothers and wants to be independent.
She finds a way to achieve this when she meets Jonathan Bridges, the owner of a shipping company which may have lost her deceased mother's possessions.
Jonathan is attracted to the bright young lady that he finds sorting out the mess in his office but he is up to his neck in worry because it appears a smuggling ring has been using his shipping business for a cover and now he has to trace missing shipping crates and he needs help.
Jonathan is desperate enough to accept help from Genevieve and her family and so the adventure begins and love emerges along the way especially as the two of them find themselves in a rather compromising position.
The story is enjoyable but it is the narration that really brought things to life for me. A narrator can either bring a book to life by opening it up to the listener or they can kill the story off by smothering it in monotony. This narrator was brilliant in the way she gave voice to the different characters and managed to keep the book within its historical setting.
The way she emphasised various aspects of the story took me back to a time when women were there to grace men's lives and men were supposed to be protectors and providers. I was drawn into the story and really enjoyed listening to this.
I don't think I will read the other books in the series because regency romance is not really a strong favourite of mine but this was such an enjoyable audiobook and fans of this genre would find this audiobook to be delightful.

4 star story. 5 star narration!!
A really good narrator can bring a story to life and make it a really enjoyable experience for the listener and of course that was the case with this book.
I hadn't come across this author before and so I was a bit wary about whether I would enjoy it or not but I shouldn't have worried. The story was actually quite good (four stars) and the narrator was excellent (five stars).
And the story was very entertaining - serious in places, amusing in others and totally engaging from beginning to end.
Storm is a young, gay TV star whose fame is rising. His agent employs a body guard, Taz, to protect Storm from his growing numbers of well meaning fans, stalkers and other threats.
Despite his popularity and fame Storm has insecurities and difficulties of his own that are not seen by his adoring fans and Storm is also deeply attracted to Taz.
Taz is a highly professional body guard and thinks that Storm is just another spoilt, promiscuous playboy but as he gets to know Storm he begins to see the beautiful loving man beneath the glittering facade and he begins to struggle with his own attraction to Storm.
This is an enjoyable bodyguard love story with a frisson of mystery within, with entertaining drama and some fabulous characters. The narrator did an excellent job and each character sounds very different and their different personalities are made real for the listener. The narration drew me into the story, made it interesting and also brought the story to life.
I didn't feel that the story was too long and I didn't get bored either. I generally find that some sex scenes can become tedious but with this narration they simply became part of the story.
I thought the mystery part of the story was a bit obvious but this didn't detract from my listening pleasure.
All in all this is a lovely story and a really lovely audiobook!

Excellent Narration
Revisado: 08-05-15
What did you love best about Android Paradox?
I loved the different characters and the way the narrator brought them to life.
What other book might you compare Android Paradox to and why?
I dont have any comparisons. I think it was a very good story in it's own right.
Which character – as performed by Erik Johnson – was your favorite?
Shortcut but I also loved X
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When X went to hunt the rogue android and discovered a young boy with his family. I liked the interaction between X and his new young ally.
Any additional comments?
This is an extraordinarily good audio book and a really good story.
First the audio - the narrator aced this one. Each character has a distinct voice and this really brought the book to life. It enabled me to imagine the characters and to lose myself in the story. I think this must be one of the best narrators I have ever listened to.
And for the story:
I don't often read sci-fi about robots/androids but this was a very interesting story that drew me in from the very first sentence.
After many years of war there is finally peace between androids and humans but something or someone is conspiring against this uneasy peace. Xandifer otherwise known as X is an android and a special agent for the United Earth Alliance. He is sent to track down a rogue android who has gone berserk, killing a hundred people and holding an Island community hostage.
When X finally tracks the rogue down he realises that there is more to this than meet the eye. This isn't just a rogue android, this is a rogue android who has been tampered with and a rogue android with a mission.
X and his human colleague Shortcut start to investigate, tracking down rogue androids, viewing the history of their creation and using all kinds of technologies in order to uncover the conspiracy.
Is this a conspiracy against humans or against androids? Why are androids going rogue and who is killing androids and removing their memories?
As Shortcut and X delve into the mystery they realise that there is a conspiracy, but they are yet to understand who is involved and why. All they know is that if they don't find out who is behind this, the peaceful co-existence between Androids and humans will come to a bloody end.
Android Paradox is the first in this trilogy and so this first book kind of sets the scene asking lots of questions which will hopefully be resolved as the books progress.
It is an exciting book and the way in which the author writes it makes the scenes come alive in my mind. It is thrilling in some places, with lots of fast paced suspense. It is brilliant writing and even the complex sci-fi intelligence is described in such a way that it sparks my imagination.
I don't always enjoy sci-fi but the way the writer has crafted this will appeal to any one even if it isn't your usual genre.
I really liked the way the book depicts the android technology. The author is able to capture this in his writing and the narrator breathes it to life in his story telling.
All in all a very good story and an excellent audio.

A Pleasure to Listen To
Revisado: 07-29-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes The story is excellent and the narration is superb! The narration and the story are a brilliant combination and I am so glad it was given to me for review.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I thought Kai was brilliant. Wounded by his past and difficult upbringing he is someone who lives despite others, despite the pain of the past, despite the exclusion and inspite of the reaction of others to his mixed heritage. He just doesn't give a damn and he is beholden to no one. He is a bit like an elven 'John Wayne' and this came across in his 'I don't give a s**t' attitude. He isn't someone who falls easily in love either and he knows the score from the beginning and is aware of himself.
Which scene was your favorite?
I don't think i had a favourite.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This is a brilliant story with a very rich cast of characters. I think the narrator did a very good job in capturing the voices of the different characters and it enriches the story. I took my time, listening to this over a few days and it was always a delight to come back to. The story draws the listener in and I soon became vested in the characters, rooting for them from the sidelines.
Any additional comments?
This is urban fantasy and not really a romance. Of course there is the frisson of a romance within the story but it isn't the whole story. The 'whole story' is really an adventure in a post-apocalyptic world after war between humans and the Sidhe comes to an end. The Sidhe have been defeated and there is an uneasy peace with Sidhe and Unsidhe running their affairs in separate courts and human beings living in a world which is drastically changed. And never the twain worlds shall meet. Except they do.
Kai Gracen is from one world but lives in the other. He is an elven outcast who makes his living among humans as a stalker, hunting and killing black dogs. The black dogs are the creatures of the Dusk Sidhe court. A court which is part of Kai's painful past. Kai's life very much revolves around stalking and killing these black dogs and spending time with his friend Darla and his surrogate 'father' Dempsey, until the day he is given a job to do for the Dawn Court.
Kai finds himself pressured into working for the Ryder the Sidhe prince of the Dawn court who is involved in a plan to increase the births of elven people. Unfortunately not everyone agrees with this plan and there are assassins and conspiracies afoot to make sure this plan is thwarted. Kai finds that he is thrown into this conspiracy even though he has turned his back on his elven heritage and lives alongside humanity, albeit at the margins.
Kai is thrust into an adventure that he doesn't want to be part of. Content with his life at the margins he is thrust into transporting a human surrogate who is about to give birth to Sidhe children, an abomination to the Sidhe. Kai is therefor pressured from all sides. Pushed into this job by human authorities, pressured by the matriarch of the Dawn Court, hunted by his real father the King of the Dusk Court and wanted by Ryder, Prince of the Dusk Court.
Pressured on all sides and of course pursued by Black Dogs.
As Kai gets drawn deeper and deeper into the elven affairs he finds he has to fight for his own free identity as well as deal with the pains and scorn from his past.
This isn't your run of the mill m/m story. It is a fast paced urban fantasy adventure, in an unfamiliar world, with an unfolding mystery at it's heart.
I didn't have any expectations when I started reading this. Reading it was a bit like peeling an onion with layers and layers of the story becoming increasingly more fascinating as the story progresses. That's how stories should be, drawing you further and further along and that's what this story does. It is a brilliantly entertaining read even without the audio and with the audio it is an exhilarating adventure come to life, drama for the ears and I loved it.
I loved this. No angst for Kai Gracen. The pain is there but he wears it and owns it and even in the most vulnerable times he wears his vulnerability as well. Unafraid, uncowed he makes an excellent but unlikely hero.
So it is clear that I liked this story, really liked it. I thought the audio was fab with an excellent narration from Greg Tremblay.
I will definitely read more books written by Rhys Ford and Greg Tremblay is now one of my top narrators.
